Nearest to equator snow recorded at sea level?
I was reading an article about how it snowed in Miami in 1979. That got me thinking about the point furthest south (or north in the southern hemisphere) where it has snowed at sea level. Obviously, there is snow at high elevations near the equator (think Andes or Kenya...). But, what about at sea level? Miami is at about 25 degrees north. My guess is the answer would be somewhere in Asia, perhaps extreme southern China or northern Laos or maybe somewhere in the Middle East (perhaps Iran or Saudi Arabia). Those areas seem suspectable to a strong blast from the north and do not have a large body of water between themselves and Siberia to temper the cold coming down.
