Travel In Laos

What does it cost to travel from Laos to Indonesia overland?

I'm on a shoestring budget and I'd like to spend max time of a week doing this. I can afford reasonable transport (that is - night trains and buses that are better than local ones.) Maybe two or three stops in towns or cities along the way. But on the move pretty constantly.

Do you think the week would cost more than US $200 including food?

Thanks.
Chico

Hi! You can travel by bus from Laos to Thailand, and then, by train or bus to Malaysia enroute to Indonesia. From Malaysia to Indonesia, you will have to take a boat, or, a plane. US$200 is more than enough for the fares and food.
Have a good trip.

Traveling to Laos... any advice???

I will be traveling to Laos in a few weeks. I don't know too much about it. I have been in Thailand for a month and a half now, and am getting a little antsy about leaving. Thing is I don't know what cities to really stay in, or what to do while I'm there. Any advice?

Best way to go from Beijing to Vientiane?

I live in China and am looking to travel to Laos with possible stops in Vietnam. Can anyone recommend a travel agent in Beijing that could help book me tickets?

Thank you!

I believe you have to get to Yunnan province first. I'm not sure how you get the visa and stuff, check with the Laotian and Vietnamese embassy.

I'm sorry I don't know any good travel agent in Beijing.
I did a small research for you. One possible way to go to Laos is to go to Nanning and then take a flight to Laos. Or you could take a train if you really want stops in Vietnam. Do you read Chinese? If you do, go to this website b/c you can find all the train schedules there. http://www.huochepiao.com/

Good luck!
