Travelling Laos

Where are some of the stand out destinations when travelling Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and Laos?

Cambodia - Siem Reap - Angkor Wat and the smaller temples are amazing. There is a Craft School in the town worth visiting. Take a trip out to the floating villages, Phnom Penh - the Palace, Killing Fields etc as listed already.

Thailand - is so huge - Chiang Mai is well worth the visit with many temples, the Hill people, cooking classes, animal sanctuaries including elephants. Kanachaburi as mentioned - at the River Kwai. The Tiger Temple is nearby,The Burma Railway, Museum, etc The beaches - Phuket......... while I haven't been there the islands sound really lovely from what our children have said. Kho Chang is our daughter's favourite.

Vietnam suggestions as listed - Hue is lovely for a couple of days also. Hoi An , Hanoi, Halong Bay.for somewhere different Lake Ba-be, Sapa.Vietnam is a beautiful country.

Laos I haven't been too.......my children have and say it is very laid back and relaxed. Luang Prabang is apparently very lovely.

How to travel between Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia?

I will be traveling to Thailand soon and, after a few weeks there, I hope to visit Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Does anyone know the best way to get around? How reliable are the rail links etc?

Hi,
From Thailand to Laos: You can take a train or bus from Bangkok to Nongkhai(12hrs ride) for $20 and up then from Nongkhai you can take a bus to Vientiane, Laos for a few dollars(45mns to 1hr ride).
From Laos to Vietnam and Cambodia: There are tour buses from Vientiane, Laos to Vietname and Cambodia, but I am not sure about the prices. It can’t be much though. More info about Laos, you can check out http://www.laos411.com/
