Luang Prabang Tours

luang prabang tours_2="luang prabang tours"
I am looking for an organised trip by boat along the mekong to Vanvieng, Luang prabang and Pak beng. Anyone?

got any tour compnaies in mind. The ones I have seen are so expensive. Will be travelling from Bangkok

just get yourself to Laos from Thailand. there's 5 places to cross I think. I went from Nong Khai across the Thai-Australian Friendship Bridge in 2005. You can get a 15 day tourist visa real easy and from there you can plan your next moves (cheaper here than you could sort in Bangkok). Me and my mate chilled in the Laos capital Vientiane for a few days and took a bus to Vanvieng. From here we bussed to Luang Prabang and then took a slow boat (two days) up the Mekong and crossed back into Thailand at Chiang Khong. Then back down through Thailand via Chiang Mai, Sukhotai and Lop Buri.
I'm guessing you're not in Thailand at the moment but you'll find traveling about over there dead easy and pretty cheap - it's better to sort things out over there than trying to plan and pay for things before you leave. Besides, you want to stay flexible so do it as you go.
Have a great time. I want to go back!
