Mount Mingyue is located 31 kilometers southwest of Yichun city, in Jiangxi Province of China. It is featured by the charming natural scenery, rare selenium hot springs and centuries-old Zen culture. Mingyue Mountain consists of tens of mountains such as Taiping Mountain, Yujing Mountain, Lao Mountain and Yangshan. Since the highest peak looks like a semicircle, hence the name Mingyue Mountain which means bright moon in English. The Mingyue Mountain can be divided into five scenic areas and a resort. Tourists may view the waterfalls, sunrise, odd rocks, and precious plant and wild animals in these areas.

Highlight:
Tourists can't miss enjoying the hot springs here. The temperature of the hot springs is about 68 C - 72 C all year round. There are over 20 minerals which are beneficial to people's health from the springs. After a hard trip, it will be a great relaxation to enjoy the hot springs.
The Zen culture is also a great feature of Mount Mingyue. As long as the West Han Dynasty, the temples had already existed here and lots of people gathered here for worshipping. Many foreign shamans from India, Japan and Korea visited here. Hundreds of Zen towers of the Tang, Song, Ming and Qing dynasties have been discovered in this area.

Hot springs:
Wentang is the place for enjoying the hot springs. It is a small town near Mount Mingyue (16 km away). Many people recommend a hotel named Dikangjushanhuiliaoyangyuan. The cost is only 120 rmb for a standard room. This hotel is a little bit old but Wentang's best hot spring is close to it. You can get a discount for this hot spring if you live here.(50 rmb for a person) If you forget to bring your swimsuit, you can get one at a very low price here (Only 10-30 rmb). The water temperature of this hot spring is about 40 C and you will be able to see the blue sky and beautiful mountains when enjoying the hot spring.

Tips:
(1). Your first step for your Mount Mingyue travel is watching the weather forecast. A lot of web sites can provide weather forecast service for your China travel.
(2). Medicine for the heart disease patients, just in case.
(3). Listen to your tour guide's advice if you have one.
(4). You'd better choose the telpher if you are not in a very good physical condition. Climbing this big mountain need too much energy.
(5). There is no hotels or hostels when climbing the Mount Mingyue. You can only find a place to live on the summit of this mountain. The conditon of these hostels are not very good. (Cost only 20 rmb for a bed) If you plan to visit Mount Mingyue during the holidays, you will need to make a reservation first.
(6). If you are from Nanchang, you can choose this route: Yichun-Yaoqian-Wentang-Mount Mingyue. If you are from Hunan, you can go this way: Yichunxichun-Shatian-Wentang-Mount Mingyue. When you reach the entrance of Mount Mingyue, you will see the telpher. The cost is 55 rmb for going up, 45 rmb for going down. There is a hilly road for Mount Mingyue but it is too dangerous for the tourists to drive. You can't drive your own car to the summit of Mount Mingyue without a permission.
(7). Mount Mingyue is very big and you'd better get a tour guide. If you don't like any travel agency, you can choose to visit here with several friends. Remember not to enter the undeveloped places, you will get lost easily in this big mountain.
(8). Don't put too many things to your bag if you plan to climb this mountain. The only thing you will need is water.

Thai History - the Modern (bangkok) Period

Shortly before the Burmese siege of Ayutthaya ended in its demise as the capital of the nation in the Ayutthaya era of Siamese history, a young general called Phaya Taksin gathered some men in the city, broke out through the Burmese lines and escaped the subsequent fall and sacking of the city. The Burmese had to withdraw some of their forces to counter a threat on another of their borders and, when Phaya Taksin returned at the head of an army seven months later, he was able to expel the city’s weakened garrison. After proclaiming himself king he looked for a more defensible place in which to establish his capital. After noticing that the French had, before their expulsion in 1688, fortified a village to the south of Ayutthaya across the river from modern Bangkok, he examined its merits and then proclaimed it as his capital, changing its name from Bangcok to Krung Thep.

King Phaya Taksin’s reign was a difficult one, as most of Siam’s vassal states declared independence after the fall of Ayutthaya, and it fell upon Taksin to reunite them. He relied heavily on a general called Chao Phaya Chakri in a successful series of wars to win back the lost territory and then to conquer Chiang Mai, Cambodia and most of Laos. He seems to have become somewhat unhinged in the process, and a reign that started benignly turned into one of cruelty and paranoia, in which he flogged monks and tortured even his own children, in order to get them to reveal supposed plots against him. Eventually he was forced to abdicate and, proclaiming himself a bodhisattva or future Bhuddha incarnate, retired to a monastery. The military council which took over regarded him as a threat to state security and he was subsequently executed in the royal fashion, which was to be beaten to death with a club made out of a special aromatic wood.

His right-hand general Chao Phaya Chakri was then proclaimed king and took the name Ramathibodi, founding the still-reigning Chakri dynasty. After his death he was given the name Rama I. The current king HRH Bhumibol is also called Rama IX and is the ninth king in the dynasty. Rama I won further wars with the Burmese before the seemingly interminable conflicts between these nations came to a close when the Burmese had to concentrate their military efforts on a new enemy, the British. His son Rama II, who was known for his poetry, built numerous temples and personally translated large sections of the Indian Ramayana epic into Thai as well as carving Wat Suthat’s exquisitely intricate doors, disposing of his special chisels afterwards so that his work could never be equaled. His ascetic successor Rama III opened Siam’s doors to the West in order to improve his country’s agriculture and medicine.

Thais who are old enough to have seen it find the Hollywood movie ‘The King and I’, in which Yul Brynner plays King Mongkut (Rama IV), extremely offensive in its portrayal of the king as a frivolous and cruel man. Middle-aged readers may remember the patronizing but admittedly amusing way in which the scriptwriters often put the words ‘etcetera etcetera’ in his mouth, as the best descriptive text his dim-witted brain could conjure up. Mongkot was actually a highly intelligent and visionary monarch who astutely studied languages as well as the social and physical sciences, especially astronomy, at which he became so adept that he was able to accurately predict a solar eclipse in 1868, an astonishing achievement for a largely self-taught man. This was a huge success in that it not only showed the Western powers that the Thai monarch was a brilliant as well as far-sighted ruler, it also helped banish some of the superstitions to which Thailand was still prone – certain monks in the king’s eclipse sighting party believed that the sun had been swallowed by a monster, who would only regurgitate it if they banged loudly on metal gongs. Unfortunately the eclipse was to be the king’s undoing as well as his triumph, as he caught malaria on the way home and died.

During King Mongkut’s 27 years as a monk, prior to ascending the throne, he spent many hours every day examining the nature of his own motivations and consciousness, which was to prove invaluable training for the politically delicate task he managed to pull off during his reign, which was to skillfully play the imperial powers Britain and France off against each other and thus preserve Thai suzerainty. A bit like Queen Elizabeth I of England 300 years before, he tried to avoid offending ambassadors, but never allowed any foreign power to pin him down too specifically, so staying ahead of the era’s diplomatic game. King Mongkut tolerated Christian missionaries in his country, but only for the free educational services they provided; in a memorable quote, he once told one of them “what you teach us to do is admirable, but what you teach us to believe is foolish”. He left the throne to his fifteen year old son Chulalongkorn, who as the visionary Rama V is revered for the schools, hospitals roads and railways he had built.

His profligate Oxford-educated successor Vajiravudh (Rama VI) sent forces to fight on the allied side in WWI, so earning Thailand a seat in the League of Nations. When his country’s flag was raised at Versailles, however, delegates from other countries thought the elephant on it was a household rodent, mortifying King Vajiravudh and prompting him to change the design to the current red, white and blue striped one. King Vajiravudh’s younger brother Prajadhipok, as Rama VII, succeeded him as king. Conscientious and hard-working, King Prajadhipok was stripped of absolute power by a military coup in 1932, accepting a constitution that decreed that he should cease to rule but continue to reign. When he abdicated and moved to England, Ananda Mahidol (Rama VIII) ascended the throne, but after reigning less than a year was found shot to death in his bedroom, victim of a shooting that has been variously blamed on suicide, murder and a tragic accident.

The current King Bhumibol, the world’s longest-serving, came to the throne in 1946 and has devoted his life to improving agriculture and the lot of the rural poor. In a cynical world it is hard for many to appreciate the reverence and adulation with which He is regarded. Thai people refer to Him as ‘my King’, as if he was part of their family. They admire, love and adulate Him to a degree that seems to many foreigners at first as only quaint, but which many later come to realize is engendered by appreciation for a life which could have been spent on sense-gratification but has been instead spent in the service of his subjects. It is especially difficult for many British people to comprehend this, as their own monarchy has descended from a tourist attraction to a soap opera and into a farce, in which royalty talk to trees and have their photos taken sucking their lovers' big toes. No mere figurehead, King Bhumibol has on many occasions used his moral authority to resolve some of the worst political crises into which the country has been repeatedly plunged during his reign, most notably in 1992. After rioting on the streets which left dozens dead, the king summoned the two main protagonists to an audience. The world watched on television as the two men crawled into the chamber on hands and knees and were instructed on how they would end the crisis.

Thai politics since the 1932 revolution have been a sad story of vote-rigging and military coups, of which there have been fully 11 successful ones, out of a total of 21 attempts. At present, in October 2008, there has been a democratically elected civilian government in power for five months; those who love Thailand fervently hope that this government will meet with more success than its predecessors.

What Would Lao-Tzu Think of Today's World?

This is total conjecture on our part, but it is safe to assume he would have withdrawn into some isolated, uninhabited wilderness, a Walden Pond if you will, and written his manifestos in relative obscurity.  He'd call for us to hearken back to simpler times, to learn to live off the land, to abandon technological advancements that lead us away from communing with the Tao.

He would see us as a violent, warring, destructive society totally out of step with the natural world.  His world and our world are virtually the same; ours just a little more so.  Each generation builds a better mouse trap, improves technology, produces more war machines and each generation get further and further removed from the Tao.

His world was violent.  His world was torn apart by wars and rumors of wars.  His world was filled with horrific self-serving rulers who oppressed the masses to benefit themselves.  He had his fill of the "civilized" world, packed his bags, loaded the ox and headed out for parts unknown.  As he fled across the border into Tibet, he was recognized and asked to put all of his worldly knowledge down in writing; which he did and then disappeared into the pages of history.

He would call for us to surrender our firearms, our cell phones, our microwave ovens, our video games and computers.  He would call for us to surrender name brand loyalty, designer fashions, extravagant lifestyles, and anything hi-def.  He would call for us to surrender our extra cars, our extra houses, our extra cash and credit cards.

He would call us to a life that was right with Tao.  In verse forty-three he illustrates this principle:

There once was a small country,

With very few people.

They had machines that made their work

Faster and easier.

But they did not use them.

They had a healthy fear of death,

And did not wander around looking for it.

They had boats and carriages, but no occasion to use them.

They had arms and armor, but no occasion to use them.

They spoke plain words,

They ate plain food,

They dwelled in plain huts,

They were content

And happy in their simple ways.

Across the way, however,

Was another state

With bright lights and barking dogs.

But the people had no interest in it.

They stayed at home, grew old together, and died.

They got it right with Tao.

This is the life Lao-Tzu calls us to a simple, plain life with simple, plain ways without the interference of a government upon a man's rights to be left alone.  He continually tells us that all is lost with leaders leading who don't follow the principles of Tao.  They will lead us astray every time.  Only leaders who are in touch with the righteous path can put their egos aside and let the people get right with Tao themselves.  The "Tao Te Ching: the Old Man's Guide to the Virtuous Path" tells us in plain, simple ways the truth behind Lao-Tzu's thoughts.  It is a remarkable translation.  It is just like the Old Man is here now, sending his handwritten manifestos to us from his Walden Pond sanctuary.

We don't have to guess what Lao-Tzu would have thought of today's world.  We have the eternal truths of the Tao Te Ching with us.  He tells us exactly what we should and should not be doing to get our lives right with the Tao.

            Happy reading.

what the best way to travel to vientiane from bangkok?

if i get off from the airport in bangkok, thailand. how and wats the best way to travel across to laos accept by plane? anything accept plane because i wanna see the scenery from bangkok-laos(vientiane)
if by train, how and where can I catch the train, bus, etc...plese help and be specific. I am traveling alone...

where can i get a laos visa in my hometown b4 I leave?

Transportation from Bankok to Udon Thani (Or Nong Khai) usually leaves Bangkok in the evening and travels overnight so unless you go by private car you will not see much scenery. The Issan plain is pretty much the same so from the train or bus you'll not see much.

If you have time I would apply for a visa to Laos before you leave your home country or stay a couple of days in Bangkok and apply for a visa.

For the Bus, Go to MoChit bus station and buy a ticket to Udon Thani (Or Nong Khai). Tickets are 500-1000 baht depending on accommodations. Definitely go to Nong Khai if you don't have a visa. Once you arrival at Udon or Nong Khai, if you already have your visa you can buy a ticket to Vientiane. If you do not have a visa get a ticket to the friendship bridge.
Its somewhat of a hassle taking the bus to the bridge (why I recommend visa beforehand) because it drops you off about a 1/4 mile away and you have to walk (you could take a tuk tuk for Nong Khai if moneys not a problem). Once you get to the bridge buy a bus ticket for crossing the bridge (about 45 baht). Then go check out of Thailand. Wait for the bus. Get on the Bus cross the Bridge. Get off the bus apply for a visa (pay 1500 baht i think) once through immigration if its early enough there will be a bus to Vientiane, if its after 4:30 there will be cars and vans for between 150 and 300 baht.
I have made this trip before and if you want specifics you can email me.

History Of Karate Today

The history of Karate is a long and meandering path of development, across seas from Japan and Okinawa, through the heart of long-ago China and over the mountains into ancient India.

For many karateka training in a traditional, style, there is a certain satisfaction in making a connection to the past through training as their predecessors trained (or close to it) and, by observing tradition, carrying on values and practices still considered useful and important. But what is traditional? Through the ages, martial arrs undergo many changes: they adapt to new circumstances, they branch-off and are altered, they are lead by new people. Others die with their inheritors. In the end, what we have may be likened to the message in a game of Chinese whispers; altered from its origins by so many people that any obvious links to its beginnings may be hard to find.

The many stories that make up karate's history have not escaped the Chinese-whisper syndrome. Modern karate's origins have been the subject of research and debate for so long that the history of karare now has its own history! This is partly because unearthing karate's earliest predecessors requires mapping the entire history of the martial arts in the East.

Many know Okinawa, an island 550 kilometres south of the Japanese mainland, as the birthplace of karate. But let's look first to Japan, considered home to most karate systems existing today. Karate is now practised in an estimated 120 countries and takes many forms. Of these, some of the most famous were founded in Japan after World War II, prominent examples being Mas Oyama's Kyokushin and Choiro Tani's Shukokai. At the same time in Okinawa, the dominant schools (Ryu) were Shorin-Ryu, Goju-Ryu, Uechi-Ryu and Matsubayashi-Ryu. Although there had been karate demonstrations outside Japan in the late 1920s and '30s, it was in the post-war years that karate arrived in European and Western countries like Australia. The Japan Karate Association, formed in 1948, assisted in spreading karate world-wide.

The many styles that developed inside Japan all grew from various Okinawan karate systems introduced to Japan early in the 20th century. Around 1902, karate was added to Okinawan schools' physical education programs and the secrecy that had surrounded the art lessened. However, some changes were made to kata for the purpose of teaching children and giving public demonstrations, and it is said this contributed to the loss of some knowledge concerning kata bunkai (applications) and thus the hiding of some of karate's deadliest defences.

Shuri-te karate master Anko Itosu (1830-1915) pioneered this development and, though not alone, his student Funakoshi Gichin is the Okinawan most often credited with the establishment of karate in Japan. In the early '20s, Funakoshi impressed Japan's Crown Prince with a karate demonstration and his art was later given support by Judo's famous founder, Jigaro Kano, securing karate's acceptance by the Japanese.

Many Japanese held racist attitudes toward things Chinese or Okinawan, so these events were vital for Karate's growth. The Okinawan's originally called Kara?te tou-di, meaning China-hand. 'Hand' is a literal translation of te or di, which was used to describe Okinawa's fighting arts just as the Chinese used the word for fist. To help karate blend into Japanese culture, the character tou was changed to a Japanese one meaning empty, hence we now have kara-te-do, 'the way of the empty hand'.

From there, Kenwa Mabuni founded Shito-Ryu (1928), and Chojun Miyagi established Goju-Ryu (1930). Funakoshi founded Shotokan in 1938 and Hironori Otsuka blended jiu-jitsu with karate (learned from Funakoshi) to form Wado-Ryu in 1939. Universities in Tokyo and Osaka formed karate clubs and the art of Okinawan China-hand soon became Japanese. The Butokukai, Japan's top combat-arts organisation, also helped Japanise karate, creating standards for teaching and developing ways to competitively test the arts. These were the beginnings of sport-karate.

The various Okinawan karate schools had always been scattered and disorganised, divided into closely guarded regional and family groups (much like the arts of China). Many styles existed but the primary three schools were all concentrated in a small area of southern Okinawa and named after their towns of origin: Naha, a town of merchants, Shuri, home to royalty, and Tomari, inhabited by farmers and fishermen. Variation between the styles is partly attributed to the distinct influences of these different classes of society.

Shuri-te featured long, low stances and an offensive approach, considered derivative of Shaolin Temple kung fu, while Naha-te is considered the most Chinese, incorporating hard and soft methods, breathing techniques and ki, (Chi or vital energy) control. Tomari-te (which focused on using the arms) developed from these two and together they were the basis for the Japanese styles; Naha-te became Goju-Ryu and Shorin-Ryu is a product of both Naha-te and Shuri-te. From the Goju and Shorin schools emerged Shito-Ryu, and so on.

The facts concerning Okinawa's sources of martial arts influence are often vague and unverifiable, some say because WWII bombs have destroyed much of the evidence. Still, aside from the continual development of self-defence methods among Okinawans, it is accepted that Chinese martial arts have most greatly influenced present-day karate. In fact, Chojun Miyagi said a style of kung fu that arrived in 1828 was "the source" of Goju-Ryu.

This passage of combat knowledge from China is closely linked to a book of Chinese origin called the Bubishi, the subject of Kyoshi Patrick McCarthy's book, The Bible of Karate. Published sometime during China's Qing dynasty (1644-1911), it details Chinese kung fu history, technique and philosophy. It's believed the Bubishi was written by a White Crane boxer, Fang Qiniang, the daughter of an Eighteen Monk Fist kung fu stylist who escaped the destruction of the Shaolin Temple by government forces (Shaolin was known to house and train revolutionaries) and settled in Fujian, China. Both feature in the Bubishi, as do their systems. This book was kept secret and hand-copied by generations of Okinawan masters; Funakoshi's books even contain chapters taken directly from the Bubishi.

McCarthy's extensive research exposed 10 more-or-less plausible theories as to who brought the Bubishi to Okinawa. Featured among them are some Okinawan masters who trained in China, including Uechi-Ryu founder Uechi Kanbun, who studied Shaolin Tiger kung fu in Fuzhou around 1897. Yet, while the Bubishi is of great importance to Okinawan karate, it did not arrive in Okinawa until sometime in the 1800s and was preceded by many more influential exchanges.

Common folklore tells of karate's development by downtrodden peasants, their weapons confiscated by Japanese invaders, who developed secret fighting traditions while their rulers slept. Legend has it that this is why karate gis look like pyjamas: because they once were, and the tradition has carried on. However, these romantic origins are considered unrealistic by most historians, as Okinawan combative traditions go back much further.

In the 800 years between 600 and 1400 A.D., Okinawa experienced territorial fighting under the rule of warrior-chieftans and in the 10th century military power struggles in Japan saw some warrior clans move to Okinawa. From 794 to 1185, Japan's methods of war were introduced, including grappling, swordsmanship and other weapon-arts.

Okinawa's regional warring continued until 1429, when the rival groups came under one rule as the Ryukyu Kingdom. In 1507, feudalism (a system whereby peasants farmed for a wealthy lord and fought in his army) was abolished and private ownership of weapons was outlawed. This, says Kyoshi McCarthy, "explains why the Uchinanchu [Okinawans] began intensively cultivating an unarmed means of self-defence".

So, long before karate was exported from Okinawa to Japan, the Japanese were bringing their own combative arts to Okinawa. However, Chinese kung fu's influence was more recent and is more evident in the Okinawan karate that exists today. Again, there are many theories explaining how it got there.

Okinawa established trade with China during the Ming Dynasty and by 1393, a group of Chinese referred to as the 36 Families was settled in Naha, Okinawa. There, Okinawans were taught Chinese language, culture and, it is assumed, martial arts. During this period, Okinawan students also travelled to China to study and possibly learn martial arts. Another likely source are the sapposhi (representatives of the Chinese Emperor) who, in the 1400s, came to Okinawa for months at a time with many multi-skilled people in tow, including security experts. The Chinese kung fu that arrived in Okinawa, possibly by one or all of these means, was then used to police the island. After 1509, with even government officials barred from carrying weapons, these civil-defence methods went underground, but were secretly practised and developed by the middle-level samurai class known as pechin, whose responsibilities included law-enforcement. In 1609 Japan's Satsuma clan captured the Ryukyu Kingdom and until Okinawa became part of Japan in 1879, eclectic fighting traditions grew. Due to the weapon bans, kobudo evolved through Okinawans making use of domestic and farming implements instead, of which the sai is an example (it is said to have once been a hay-fork).

Some pechin also visited Satsuma and learned the Jigen-Ryu ken-jitsu of the Satsuma samurai; it is thought that the six-foot staff techniques of Okinawan kobudo originated there. One example is Matsumura Sokon, an important figure in Shuri-te who was a security agent for various Ryukyuan kings and studied martial arts in Satsuma and Fujian, China.

But to fully explore the origins of China-hand, one must look to China. Most brief histories of karate begin with the legend of the Indian monk Daruma (in Japanese) or Bodhidharma, generally described as a skilled martial artist born into a warrior caste. He travelled to China around the Sixth Century AD to spread Zen Buddhism, settling at the Shaolin monastery to teach Buddhist meditation and philosophy, and physical movements that included striking - the alleged beginnings of the kung fu systems mentioned so far.

However, there is evidence of strong warrior traditions existing in China long before the arrival of Daruma (the first emperor to unify China, Qin Shi Huang, for example, left terracotta replicas of his entire army in Xi'an in 210 BC). It could also be logically concluded that fighting methods and traditions existed to an extent in all human societies, just as surely as quarrels and aggression existed. Texts discovered in China, reportedly 4,000 years old, detail systematic physical training, while 2,800 year-old writings describing unarmed combat have also been found in Europe. That aside, the previously mentioned systems of Monk Fist and White Crane kung fu can be traced to Shaolin.

While it is uncertain how much of Daruma's story is true, the legend is strong and there is little doubt that the texts and exercises introduced to Shaolin have been influential there. However, there have since been many other developments in the kung fu of Shaolin, with various influences flowing into and out from the Temples, leading to the creation of many different styles.

Keeping in mind that traditions are ever-changing, the predecessors of Shaolin martial arts are not necessarily the true origin of karate, just as one person in a game of Chinese whispers has only a small influence on what is whispered at the end of the line. Due to Okinawa's location (just 740 kilometres east of China and 550 north of Taiwan) it attracted the attention of pilgrims, traders and pirates of many races and has therefore had centuries of cultural exchange with Korea, Laos, Cambodia and numerous other Asian cultures with martial traditions. Some karate historians even say that the need for Okinawa's sailors to protect themselves against pirates played a part in the development of Okinawan te, which has existed in various forms for at least 1,000 years.

Despite the focus of Japanese martial traditions on weaponry and grappling during the periods that Okinawa was most exposed to them, their influence on Okinawan karate and kobudo should not be discounted either. So, to provide a complete history of today's karate, it would be wise to also include the history of all Japanese martial arts. That, however, would be another story entirely!

A good analogy for the history of karate might be that no child is born of only one parent; they will therefore have four grandparents, eight great-grandparents, and so on. It can be said that all karate systems in existence today are the descendants of many different parents, each with unique genes but also similarities, evidence of shared ancestors somewhere in their lineage.

That said, it is well worth digging around for the many great individual stories that make up the history of karate. Some of us might also benefit from researching a history that is more personal, immediate and accessible: what of your teacher, his life and his art? Who has he trained with, in what systems? How has karate affected him, and he it? And what of his teacher?

Although the past is often more wondrous than any prediction of the future, historians uncover it not only out of curiosity; their common aim, it is often said, is to learn about the present from the events of history. So, by uncovering your instructors' karate history, you should learn much that will help you on your own journey. You may also choose to learn from the history presented in this article and write it down carefully for future generations.

I was in Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia for two months with my girlfriend. We spent less than £1000 per month between the two of us. We stayed in decent budget hotels, ate in good budget restaurants, visited all the sights by tuktuk or taxi, cruised Ha Long bay and made two internal flights! Beer is as cheap as Coca Cola so you will breeze it with your money no worries!

Amniocentesis – A Complication in Pregnancy

Amniocentesis is the word which is alone very daunting for any pregnant lady as the test itself. If multiple marker screening tells that your baby have some risks related to the chromosomal abnormalities then the doctor will give you option of doing amniocentesis. Then you can do things from here?

When you will get to know that there are some complications with your pregnancy then it can be really scary. But abnormal screening only tells that levels of unconjugated estriol (uE3), Human chrionic Gonadotropin (HCG) and Alphafetoprotein (AFP) in blood are not is what considered to be normal range for such stage in pregnancy. There are lots of women who get abnormal results from multiple makers screening and from amniocentesis, will result in healthy pregnancies.

The levels of HCG, uE3 and AFP in your blood through out your pregnancy also indicates a increased risk for chromosomal disorder down syndrome as well as Trisomy 18 in fact for neural tube defect like spinal bifida. Discuss multiple marker screening actually results with your gyane and complete make you aware of the disorders that why your baby is at a risk. Well genetic counseling is also a valuable resource.

If you have enough knowledge about each and every disorder then you can better judge your feelings on pregnancy and decide how you need to proceed. In case abnormal results would actually not be worth risk incurred by invasive such as amniocentesis test. And this result would importantly impact your decision so as to continue with the pregnancy, then test like amniocentesis may ease your mind or give more conclusive information along with which you will have to make the decision.

Once you decide for further testing then you need to discuss this thing with your doctor that which test is going to benefit you. Well amniocentesis is actually the most common one but few other tests like chorionic villus sampling can also be put in use.

Through the process of Amniocentesis a fluid is extracted directly from amniotic sac between 15th and 20th pregnancy week. It laos allows lab to the test fetal cells straight for the chromosomal abnormalities. As the test needle actually punctures amniotic sac, there is risk of miscarriage, amniotic fluid leakage and infection also. However this risk is considered minimal.

Just like amniocentesis there is chorionic Villus Sampling, however this tests is actually a perfect sample of placental tissue.

31 Modern And Creative Book Shelves

Rigidity may be given when it comes to the appearance of books, but modern designers have seen to it that this doesn’t dictate the shelves that house them.

More than ever, personal taste is the deciding factor as  storage space is given free reign to interact with design, user and environment. Go with the flow and put your book shelves on show.

1. Console Book Shelf:

Reading doesn’t get more comfortable than this. Regardless of where you like to read or study, Stanislav Katz’s Console Book Shelf will keep you engrossed for hours without moving rooms for missing material.

Flanked by two fitted shelves on either side and below it, the reclining part of this unit is as aesthetically appealing as it is functional for reader and book alike.

2. Lago:

When is a bookshelf not a bookshelf? When it’s a letter of the alphabet or a floating square. In short, a Lago invention. Well-known for their fluid, unconventional thinking, Italian masters of innovative furniture design, Daniele Lago and Massimo Bonnetti, have taken their free-thinking brand of expression to new levels with their floating ‘Shelf System’ range.

Called Tangram, the shelf system beautifully combines functionality and flexibility in its mission to create interaction between storage unit and items that are being stored.

By creating the illusion of weightlessness, the designers succeed in giving books as much prominence and appeal as the bookshelves, which come in a range of funky designs and shapes.

3. Bookcase Into a Bed:

A great solution for maximizing space, Karen Babel’s bookcase-cum-bed promises to expand limited home horizons.

The mattress, which is made of four interlockable pieces, forms the base, which surrounds five storage shelves when placed in an upright position on a wall-mounted frame. To form a bed, the mattress pieces are locked together – with two parts for a single, and four for a double.

4. Cave Book Shelf:

Inspired by the spacelessness of modern Japanese homes, Sakura Adachi created a womb-like reading room amidst a series of clean-lined shelf systems to keep the connection between reader and book as intimate as possible. Not for giants or those who prefer a more laissez faire approach to their favorite pastime.

5. Andreas Hegert’s Book Shelf:

A rebel with a cause, Andreas Hegert gives anarchy a functional meaning with this squiggly trio of shelves, which range from 40cm to one meter in length. If you’re one of those eclectic readers whose interests range from Tolkien to Hegel, this random collection of shelves will suit your philosophical rhythm.

Pay no attention to the linear structure of walls, floor and ceiling, but mind you don’t cover the light shades, which are made of powder-coated sheet and fitted with LEDs.

6. Good Morning Technology Bookshelf:

A modern take on Scandinavian Shaker simplicity, this Danish blue and white block effect uses rectangular wood and metal cubbies as both storage and structural support.

An added beauty of the chequered system lies in the fact that the height can be adjusted and books are stacked horizontally or vertically.

7. Bookseat shelf chair:

There’s something to be said for keeping all your books and magazines in the place that you want to read them, as this all-in-one unit shows.

Rated as one of 10 must-sees at Toronto Interior Design Show, this curvaceous plywood chair-cum-bookshelf doubles up on space and comfort. Available with a felt cushion in colors to suit your taste and environment.

8. Books To Go:

Find you don’t always work in the same part of the house or your  home office is constantly changing dynamics? Rose Cobb’s wheeled unit not only ensures you can move your library with ease, but clamps your books securely on the shelf to ensure you don’t spend your life picking up after yourself. Five stars for functionality.

9. Nar Bookcase:

Another two-dimensional couplet, this metal coffee table conceals a unique hanging book shelf beneath its solid exterior. Like ribs beneath a beautiful carcass, the metal plates on which the books are slung by the bindings also serve as bookmarks.

The clean, masculine lines of the unit make for sturdy aesthetics complemented by excellent dust protection.

10. Bookworm Bookshelf:

Designed to twist like a centipede into whatever shape you require, the Bookworm Bookshelf is just that: a firm, flexible, functional animal which needs only books to complete it.

Using extrusion technology, Ron Arad added imagination to a durable product, topped it off with book ends, and came up with an innovative, elastic design to brighten up the most static of environments.

11. Twin Bookshelf:

Representing the two sides of Istanbul, Asian and European, Zeynep Cinisli’s design bridges the gap between design and practice. Using DNA-like strands as shelves between twin cells, the symbolism is all yin and yang.

Pushed apart, the cells are display mirrors of each other; pushed together they form a nucleic whole which functions as a wall cabinet. Symbolism at its most functional.

12. Never Ending Bookshelf:

Though it would seem logical to include logic in the making of a practical item like a book shelf, designer Luca Nichetto decided convention was beyond his idea of functionality.

The resultant “Neverending” spyro gyra which he created undoubtedly qualifies as a sculptural work of art, but it is not clear how it works as a carrier of hard-cover books. Vive la difference!

13. Knockdown Bookcase:

A boon for those who like to do it all themselves, Sung Won Park’s flat-pack DIY unit uses no glue, screws, wrenches or even instruction manuals. Modular wood boards, which are identical in size, are slotted into grooves in a supporting wall and the rest is up to you. As easy to transport as it is to build.

14. Insert Coin Shelf System:

Vaguely reminiscent of shoe racks which use vertical rather than horizontal stacking, this shelf system uses trays, inserted randomly at different levels on a colorful base, to accommodate just about everything you want on display.

Designed by Nils Holger Moormann, Insert Coin provides potential for just about every look: from higgledy piggledy to extremely straight and narrow.

15. XEL:

Believe that a tidy desk is a sure sign of a sick mind? XEL takes the concept to a new level with its aluminium and glass rendition of ordered chaos which ensures you can pack every size and type of book into one space without looking anal. Use it like jazz up a stale room or add contemporary pizzazz to a funky loft.

16. Shelf Concept By Okapi Studio

A versatile solution for those who believe their performance is deeply affected by their environment; Okapi Studio’s bookshelf design ensures boredom is out of the question.

Using lightweight modules that can be customized to everyone’s need, Okapi bends rigid shelf norms just enough to challenge the status quo, but not beyond the ridiculous. After all, it makes perfect sense to mould a shelf to fit the book, doesn’t it?

17. File Tree:

Essentially designed as a modern filing cabinet, Laurie Beckerman’s design is just as suited to books. Fitted with solid shelves emanating like erudite rays from a double diamond shape, her genius lies in its simplicity. Minimalist, functional and aesthetically appealing, this Zen item is a sparkling gem.

18. Split Shelving:

Constructed by cutting a log into four unequal sections and adding a few slats around the side, Peter Marigold’s honeycomb-like wall units provide endless possibilities for adding new honey to the book hive.

Another one is for those who are not crazy about order, but like a geometric slant to their décor. Descriptive rather than prescriptive, Marigold’s tantalizing solution is equally useful for stacking loose paper and other knick-knacks.

19. Flying Vee:

Like winged ducks in various states of flight, the L or V shape of this customizable design makes a versatile way of keeping your books in a row. Each sheet of bent metal provides space for one or more books to be catalogued or hung according to your personal whim. Fiction or fact? Let the shape of the book shelf dictate.

20. Fly Shelf:

Slick, slim and oh so Italian, this bookshelf system with integrated projection screen will ensure Fellini has as much pride of place as Dante. Keep those aging classics on the shelf and watch old original at the same time. Only those with a projector-based home theatre system need apply.

21. Elastic Bookshelf:

For avid bibliophiles, there can be few things more exciting than the concept of an elasticized book shelf. Made of wide conveyor-belt like elastic bands stretched between two pegs on a wall, Arianna Vivenzio’s invention does more than stretch the imagination.

Besides your beloved books, you can squeeze just about anything into the space in the middle. From CDs to boxes of memorabilia, the possibilities are expansive and the simple design lends itself to hanging a multiple-use series without spoiling the aesthetics.

22. Balancing Shelf:

Dubbed “Maintain the Balance of your Knowledge”, Denis Oh’s hanging shelf is sure to test your sense of equilibrium. Accommodating every swing of reading mood, the pendulum-like counter-balancers will ensure you don’t overload the heavy stuff if you want to stay on an even keel. Feel like dipping wildly? The choice is entirely yours.

23. Strip Shelf:

One of the few designers who can claim to have a foot in the green tree-hugging and futuristic plastic-loving world of smart design, Casey Mack has got it sussed when it comes to catering to a global audience.

Made of 75% sawdust, and secured with movable plastic book ends, the adaptable shelf provides a practical home for every description of book, while satisfying the aesthetic tastes of Zen minimalists. “If people’s hearts can be like the trees, they will not be off the Way.”

24. Pisa Book Shelf:

Operating on a similar principle to a deck chair, this tall narrow bookshelf is a sculptural piece and a functional whole. Though it creates an impression on its own, it is best accompanied by one or more copies for optimum effect. Lent a certain amount of gravity by the stark boldness of design, Matt Carr’s leaning tower is unlikely to fade into the background.

25. Droopy Book Shelf:

Though it looks like a see-saw that could whip in the opposite direction at any given moment, Jill Davis’s angled shelf has enough centrifugal force to keep it from flipping.

Minimalist in the extreme, its attraction lies in its sheer simplicity and mysterious capacity to keep heavy books afloat. Not quite library material, but ideal for all those manuals and self-help courses you keep dipping into.

26. Book & shelf:

While some shelves are purely functional, others entirely whimsical, Haba Yoshitaka’s concept takes individualist fetishism to the limit.

Customized to fit a given set of books exactly within a 36cm square, the unit is cut, assembled and glued around the owner’s personal collection which renders the entire freedom of choice. Ideal if you have a book collection on a specific subject, or want to win eternal points in the personalized gift department.

27. Wall Wave:

Multi-functionality at its most enigmatic, Yoon-Zee Kim’s flowing piece of furniture allows its usage to be interpreted by the user. A zingy, modular shelf unit easily doubles as a fixed seat and desk space or a platform for hanging pot plants and funky photographs. Seeing is believing. Functionality is in the eye of the user.

28. Cell Shelf:

A cross between a matrix of DNA cells and a ladder in appearance, this unusual stacking device has plenty of space for holding piles of all descriptions.

The thin, vertical shaft gives its height and space-saving points. 10 out of 10 for originality and maneuverability. Aesthetics and functionality questionable. “We shape clay into a pot, but it is the emptiness inside that holds whatever we want.” – Lao Tze

29. Rolling shelf:

A zany take on floating shelves, Catherine Greene’s design uses individual pieces of wood to stabilize stretched lengths of fabric, which can be rolled up according to the owner’s requirements or taste. An interesting space for blending book collections with decorative bits.

30. The Line King:

A grown-up take on the sketching exercise which requires you to create and complete a house without lifting your pencil, the “Line” furniture system does just the same to the interior of your home.

Using a single no-break line, designer Aykut Erol transports a work table, hanger, bookshelf, wine rack, CD rack, TV stand and lighting unit to your living space. Minimalism at its purest, the potential for storage is infinite and can be adapted to home or office. Sorted – in one fell swoop!

31. Fairytale Bookshelf:

A challenge to anyone who has ever thought that you can judge a book by its shelf, this whimsical winged creation gives new meaning to the concept of fairytales.

Enclosed in what looks like a horizontal clasp, one or two books metamorphosise into a giant butterfly when extracted from their pupa. Novelty value beyond 10.

The Fabulous Beaches of Rocky Point, Mexico

It's all about beaches and ocean in Puerto Peñasco. Sandy beaches, rocky beaches, beaches for swimming, shelling or just bumming around. There is wind surfing, fishing, sailing, or jet skiing, and tide pools to explore when the tide is out. With miles of beaches available stretching from northwest to southeast of the town, whatever you want from a beach you can find here.

Note that in Mexico all beaches are are, by law, open to the public. Along the beaches of Rocky Point there are rarely any lifeguards available, so although the water is generally very safe for swimming, do take reasonable precautions. The best swimming is from May through October, as it is generally too cold for swimming during the winter months. And remember: all vehicles are prohibited on the beaches of Puerto Penasco.

You will find many references to beaches in the region as being "west" or "east" due to the way the land curves away as you head south. For instance, Playa Encanto and Playa La Jolla might be described as "Eastern beaches" while Sandy Beach is a "Western beach". I find that somewhat confusing, though, so in case it confuses you, too, I will be describing the beaches as going from north to south, as indeed they ultimately do. To the right is a Google-earth satellite view showing the general lay of the land.

I'll start this description of Rocky Point's beaches at the northern end with Pelican Beach and head south as far as Playa San Jorge.

Pelican Beach: Beginning north of town are the beaches fronting the Laguna Shores and Laguna del Mar developments, which are located along the curve of Cholla Bay. These 2 masterplanned developments share a pristine estuary teeming with wildlife-- bring your binoculars and camera! (Future plans for this area also include the Laguna del Sol and Marina Real communities.) Part of the larger Estero La Cholla (pictured at the top of this post), you are encouraged to help keep this estuary as clean and pristine as it is today. You know: "Take only pictures and leave only footprints". Pelican Beach (so called because of the number of brown pelicans that hang out in the area) is located near the bottom edge of Laguna del Mar. It is a good place to go clamming or crabbing. This lovely stretch of beach curves to the southwest until it reaches the little jut of land where the La Cholla community is found. From the main highway north out of town, take the clearly marked turn off going to Laguna Shores/Laguna del Mar.

La Cholla (sometimes spelled La Choya): La Cholla is the oldest established foreigner-dominated enclave in the area. Set at the end of a little peninsula that juts like a finger into the Sea of Cortez at the southern end of Cholla Bay and Laguna del Mar, there is not much in the way of sandy beaches here. Probably the best one is called Tucson Beach. Though small, Tucson Beach offers calm water for wading and swimming when the tide is in. It also affords easy launching and retrieval of watercraft if you happen to be living or renting in the area and have a boat.

This peninsula is often called Pelican Point. Its rocky shores are part of a submerged 15-mile reef, and when the tide goes out it goes waaaay out! This is an advantage, however, for anyone who loves to explore tide pools, and due to the prevailing on-shore winds and shallow water it is excellent for kite sailing. This is also a great fishing spot for red snapper, whitefish, halibut, gold spotted bass and black sea bass! Don't count it out.

Sandy Beach (Playa Arenosa): At the southern edge of the La Cholla peninsula begins the miles-long sweep of Sandy Beach. The construction along its edges (Sandy Beach Resorts) is the first thing you see when approaching town; you can see the highrise condos from 10 to 15 miles out. There are a lot of activities available at this beautiful beach area, including swimming, snorkeling, SCUBA diving, water skiing, parasailing, jet skiing, surfing, fishing, clamming, or just basking in the sunshine. The crescent-shaped beach has miles of largely undisturbed sand dunes flowing inland. At its southern end it merges into Playa Bonita, and the two areas share many attributes.

Playa Bonita/Playa Hermosa: Playa Bonita/Playa Hermosa sweeps from the bottom of Sandy Beach in a great arc southward to the Peñasco del Sol resort area of downtown and is the main beachfront for that area. Technically an extension of Sandy Beach, this beautiful stretch of beach is loved by both locals and visitors, with easy access throughout most of its length. When the tide is very low the seaweed, rocks and tide pools are exposed. This provides a perfect time to explore the pools for the strange and wonderful variety of marine creatures that live there. Kids of all ages love this, but do be careful what you touch.

At the northern end of this beach you will find the well-established Playa Bonita and Laos Mar hotels. Anchoring its southern end, as already mentioned, is the Peñasco del Sol (formerly Plaza Las Glorias). Within walking distance of the Peñasco del Sol are many shops and restaurants, which makes this a very popular location. On a busy day, parking anywhere near it can be challenging. This is also where the rocky area of the beach that circles most of the town begins.

Mirador Beach: Located right around the corner from Old Port's Malecon, this is the closest beach to the oldest parts of downtown Rocky Point. Comprised of both sandy and rocky shores, it is only about three blocks south of the Peñasco del Sol. Besides having the advantage of an excellent beach and superior tide pooling when the tide is out, this area is home to many of the town's favorite night spots such as Manny's, Pink Cadillac, the Pithaya, and Baja Cantina. Mirador is Spring Break country, the center of action for partying for the young crowd every spring. The process of sprucing up the Mirador area is well underway, with upscale mixed use development planned for the area.

Las Conchas: Las Conchas is a 6-mile-long straight stretch of beautiful, pristine beaches with low bluffs and big sand dunes punctuating its length. Located along the northwestern shores of the Morua Estuary, this beach is mostly sandy and shallow; you can walk way out in many places even when the tide is not out. Excellent for shore fishing and shelling (and star gazing at night).

Playa La Jolla: Located at the East Beach development area, about 15 minutes south of town by car and separated from Las Conchas' beach by the mouth to the Morua Estuary. Playa La Jolla offers a perfect place to take in the sun, go for a walk, collect shells and enjoy the scenery and serenity. While close to town, it is not uncommon to find yourself almost alone on this beautiful beach. The beach here is wide, sandy, and rock free.

Playa Encanto: Ditto Playa La Jolla, which essentially shares the same beach with La Jolla, and you already know what this beach area is all about. Both are excellent for shelling, so bring along a baggie to save your treasure in.

NORTH BEACH: North Beach is a development area that has been very controversial for a decade, and the controversy continues to this day. You can find out more about the real estate debacles there via Google, but for our purposes I will say only that the beaches are outstanding. Playa Dorada and Playa Miramar are two of the beaches/developments in this area.

Playa Dorada: Playa Dorada is almost a 30 minute drive from town. Like most of the beaches in the area it is wide, sandy, and covered in shells-- some of them HUGE. If you like deserted beaches and quiet, you can't go wrong with Playa Dorada.

Playa Miramar: Ditto Playa Miramar, just below Playa Dorada and sharing all of the latter's attributes.

Mayan Palace: Located in the La Pinta Estuary, at kilometer 24 along the Peñasco – Caborca highway (a 30 to 40 minute drive), this massive resort development has about 2 miles of unspoiled beachfront. Located along the La Pinta Estuary, this place is an ecological haven for marine creatures and birds and has excellent shelling. On the southeastern part of the beach, about a mile from the resort, many sea creatures can be found during low tide, along with huge, hand-sized shells. The sand is also great for building sand castles.

Playa San Jorge: Just across the bay from the new Mayan Palace Resort, where the land curves more toward the south, is the San Jorge Estuary, with beaches that rival those of its neighbor. Though there is some development in the area, if you make it all the way down to Playa San Jorge you can be assured of isolation, if that is what you desire. Bring your own shade, water and plenty of sunscreen. And don't forget your binoculars (for bird and critter watching) and camera. This is what beaches are all about.

And there you have it. Enjoy the fabulous beaches of Rocky Point, Mexico!

The Greek Riots and Who is to Blame!

Congratulations Mr Tsipra (SYN)!! Congratulations Mr. Alavanos (Sy.RI.ZA)!!

You managed very well your civil war organisation. Probably your masked army was not only Greek University students and School joung teens pupils but also foreigners with special barbar disposition to distroy the Greek cities. Because I do not think that Greek joung people can hate so much their own cities to make them ashes. Indeed between them were recognised joung teens and foreigners.

Do you know what did you managed?

1. To distroy the Greek and Goverment reputation over all the world (this was your aim);

2. Distroy the Democratic sysmbol of Greece internationally;

3. A joung teen Alexis be killed accidentally;

4. 100s families whose shops are distroyed now remain more poor than before in this crisis periods;

5. You intensified the economical crisis in the country seen that European Central Banks because of luck of trust to the goverment they increased the interest rated to govermental credits needed to save our economy.

How things are really happen? What is the truth? Here are in short:

1. First the pacific demonstrator of SY.RI.ZA in Omonoia place Athens

at the end of the long file of people you could already recognise some masked people following.

2. Some hours later started the riots on the street from masked extreme anarchics and vandalisms simultaneously in various Greek cities (Athens, Thessaloniki, Patras, Volos, Larisaa, etc..). Among them you could recognise (as later made known by the police from arrested extremists) foreigners, some pupils and university students. Later from the 176 people arrested 100 were foreigners with agressive and violations insticts and 76 Greeks.

3. Lot of Albanians and other emmigrants with no job started stealing the distroyed shops following behind the masked anarchists.

4. A child Alexis has been kild; On purpose or accidentally his death was a justice case. SY.RI.ZA profited from this and using flying papers distributed at schools try to engage pupils to go into the streets and demonstrate against the police and goverment with stones and what ever they could find in memorial of Alexis murder as they say (not yet defined if was a murder or an accident). Pupils has no right to take the law in their hands and demonstrate in the streets.

5. Tsipras comes back from Mytilini where there started new riots on the streets during his presence there.

6. Commerciants took the law in their hands to protect their properties from the vandals fighting aagainst them and pushing them far from their properties.

So, we have three waves of psople acting these days: The masked anarchic vandals, the unmasked pupils, and the commerciants.

Where have you been Mr. Tsipras all these days during the events? Mr. Tsipras was dissapeared. Because he was first somewere in the Polytechnic school in his head quarter to play the war captain (Alavanos was the war general) and guide strategically his barbar amy to make chaos and distroy the Greek cities. And he just also moved to Mytilini to move the joung people there as 2 days ago just started same anarchic events in Mytilini. And today Mr. Tsipras comes back, when now things are calmed down, to speak in the camera and support SYRIXA against the accuses received from LAOS and KKE that Mr. Alavanos "caresses the ears of the masked anarchic" (means that he supports these movements).

In all your speaches you both try to move joung people and now even students (as Mr. Alavanos did at the TV press) agasinst the goverment. And your wish was done. Today 1000s joung pupils of 15 years old stopped their lessons and make invasion in their schools and the Greek police offices. Are you outttt of yourrrrr mindddddd Mr. Alavanos and Tsipras!!!!!!!!! You are both monsters. Dangerous monsters for the Great Greek Democracy.

And you chose the good periods! Just after the Vatopedi scandal. To exterminate the Greek goverment, and create conditions for new elections. Certainly not for you. You are too small for that. Certainly to support PASOK for Mr. Papandreou. Is the only partei which did not react against you as did LAOS and Communists KKE.

And this barbar distructions and extreme anarchic behaviour is not the first time hapenned. Some years ago same hapenned but still the goverment is in its place. Last year you and PASOK asked your people to fire the whole Greece (Peloponese fires, etc..) in order to accuse, as you did, the Govemerment that can not do its job. Now you do the same.

World must know that Greek Democrasy is not easy to break. People like you try to distroy your own country for private benefits for your pockets. You must stop it.

I accuse you and Greek Press to be so stupid to transmit your wills and war messages to joung people. The death of Alexis Grigooropoulos is not due to a policeman. You are the moral responsible of this. The child was death from a broken trajectroy bullet and was God's will or was pre-written to die. Came his moment. Pitty for the child. You must be in the place of the accused policeman.

And the Press talking against the police, every body was telling his short and his long (Greek expression) accusing the police that they were barbars. Against whom?? Against the barbars?? When the police had a pathetic attitude (just watching) all the time you accused them that they do nothing to save the properties of innocent commerciants. But when they did something (shutting on the air, throughing gas capsules, shuting at the air, etc) you accused them as barbar. Have you the sense of logic?? What must polish then do? Some others said "Police should not be weapenned or not use chemical weapens (gas)". How then, according to you, they should arrest the barbars?? You expect that they should ask them gently "Please enter in the police truck to be arrested!!"? You created a unsecure situation for the whole Greek people who was watching news. They didn't know what 'to consider as correct and what not.

Why press is so negative against police? Why they call the vandals and anarchists simply demonstrators (diadilwtes) instead extreme anarchic vandals? They accuse continuesly barbar behaviour of the police against the demonstrators who are burning shops, throw molotof bombs and stones against them, breaking banks, distroying everything they can and have in front of them. Are you out of your mind Greek Press and TV? And what hapenned when a police guardian was fired entirely from a bomb molotof in Athens and another wounded from a stone thrown by a teen? Nothing hapenned. Police didn't react violently as pupils and student stupidly did. (Kounia pou sas kounagie esas kai tis rimades ideologies). You know why press behave as that? To make more readers of their press or have more audity of their TV programs. Some of them even support vanddalism as they telephonically interviewed in their TV program (yellow Press) Mr. Ksiros (a dangerous extremist who is actually in gail for several accuses) and also telephonically invited in interview a vandalist and caresse him with sympathy. Are you out of your mind Yellow Press? What money does. No morality. They need everything to make more vewbility of their program even if they confuse and make angry the Greek people with these their actions. They exagerated in everything.

All demonstrations now against police offices in all abroad countries are due to your stupidities said in your transmitions. That's why International Press gave so negative reports about Greece, the Greek events and the Greek Democracy. They say what you put in their mouths. Congratulations Greek Press!!! You have inconsciently contributed in succeeding the goals of these two gentlemen "the monsters generals of the anarchic autonoms" in our country.

This must be done known to all International Press.

Is not the uncapability of the Greek Goverment and of the Police to stop the anarchy. It was too much sudden and unexpected for everybody. Press managed to stop the police in doing their job (feared to be accused as barbars against the anarchists).

Now all Political Parties ask the Goverment to go. Yes this was their goal. Karamanlis and N.D must not go. Only the dangerous elements of our anti-politics must go and even dissapear from the political scene.

Scandal about Vatopedi does not exist in this sense. It was a theme which is going to be closed and it started during the PASOK govermental period. PASOK are the initiators. Siemens scandal is also started during PASOK goverment and discovered during Karamanlis N.D goverment. Some from goverment were accused but they are innocent in the Vatopedi "question". They only accepted to sign an exhange between gound and a lake for the eremites of Athos manastry as they convinced the ministers that they need the ground to build buldings to help and give spiritual support to Greek people. I do not accuse the ministers for that (see my blog about this subject http://www.gooblogg.com/index.php/2008/11/28/holy-mountain-at-athos-monastery-vatopedi-scandal-in-greece/).

Mr. Karamanlis didn't sale the Greek Telecom to Germans (who simply invested money under secure for Greece conditions) or didn't sale the Pereus port to China (who is ony rended with a good year income for the Greek people), or didn't sale Olympic Airways to foreigners as Olymic was a negative business and money loss for the goverment and needed external support as many other European Air companies (Air France, Italian Airway company etc..).

CONSEQUENTLY, all these so called by the anti-politics scandals in detriment of Mr. Karamanlis and his goverment ARE NOT SCANDALS. These are accuses of the un-moral politics who instead to collaborate positively with the giovernent to bring the country out of the economical crisis they create instead conditions in detriment of the welbeing of the Greek people in order to satisfy their political goals and their personal benefits.

BBC wrote that Greece has a easy-broken democracy. What about the UK police who killed an innocent Brasilian men during the anti-terror attacks? What about the scandal of strictly confidential data which has been difused out last year? And what about the political crisis in Italy and Mafia? What about the terror Basques in Spain killing inncovet people? What about the French vandalstic demonstrations of joung people last year? Are those stable democracies?

We can not speak therefore for an easy-broken Greek Democracy.

The morality is that so long goverments in Europe accept to have emmigrants in their countries without being able to offer them job and food, Europe will affront always this kind of riots and aggressions in the local national societies. A strong measure against this emmigrants invasion must be taken before is for Europe too late.

This report is destinate to the International Press and TV stations to know the truth.

Laos Mekong River

laos mekong river="laos mekong river"
travel from laos to cambodia?

does anyone have some good information about getting the boat along the mekong river from vientiene to siem riep or phenom pehn. time and cost. or other transport options that arent taking a plane.

Most of the trip you can do now by bus/minibus as more and more parts of the road are finished. But down the Mekong river is definetly the more amazing trip. Only, you can not go the way by boat anymore as with the finished road more and more boat services stop. But you should try to do as much as possible by boat as it seems that it is not possible too long anymore

Techniques For Reducing Investment Risk

"Does the future look as black as they paint it?" This is a question that you should ask yourself when you read troublesome economic predictions. On most days, the prevalent opinion in newspapers is a mixture of distrust and hesitation. Is there a way to make solid decisions about where to place your savings and minimize financial risk?

In investments, like in most things in life, it all boils down to using the right methodology. How can we determine what is true? What facts are relevant? Which predictions make sense? Can we figure out the future by applying principles extracted from experience?

"If you intend to climb a high mountain, always choose the smoothest path," wrote Chinese philosopher Lao-Tzu in the year 520 BC. In times of economic adversity, investing becomes the equivalent of climbing the Swiss Alps bare-handed in the middle of the winter.

After suffering the negative results of wrong financial decisions, many individuals are reluctant to place any money in the stock market. Are those fears justified? Making mistakes is inevitable in any human endeavour. A wise man must be willing to accept occasional errors and use them as stepping-stones for building a better future for himself. Why should we not view the stock market in the same way?

The main lesson to be drawn from past financial mistakes is that, when it comes to investing, methodology is everything. More careful research can help us make better decisions in the future. A more disciplined approach can minimize losses. Taking appropriate measures to reduce risk should prevent us from making the same faults twice.

The following principles of risk reduction have endured the best and worst of times. Use them to your advantage to build a prosperous financial future. From time to time, your decisions will not be correct, but if you adopt a prudent strategy, you can keep your losses under control at the same time that you let your profits grow.

[1] Choose shares of solid companies, preferably those that pay regular dividends: Unless you are a professional investor, it is advisable to avoid speculative stocks of small enterprises whose future is dependant on one single product or customer. During periods of economic adversity, well-established companies whose products fulfil fundamental human needs tend to fare better than small undertakings.

[2] Never place more than 5% of your savings on a single investment: Even if you make a correct decision today, circumstances continuously change. The easiest way to minimize risk is to spread your savings into many different assets. The rule of 5% implies that, over time, you should aim at having at least 20 different types of investments.

If you save money every month, it will take you less than two years to achieve this target. Risk reduction is worth the effort of researching 20 different investments. Some of them will turn out to be outstanding places for your money, while others may deliver negative results. Since you cannot know in advance, you will be better off by spreading your money.

[3] Diversify your assets amongst different sectors and countries: You have no control over what problems will affect specific industries or countries in the future. Those negative events are, to a great extent, unpredictable.

Follow the example of professional investors and spread your savings amongst different types of assets. If you diversify internationally by placing a good part of your savings in stable countries around the world, your financial future will be less affected by problems in any particular territory.

[4] Understand that nobody can predict with certainty when markets hit bottom or are about to crash: You should never act blindly on someone else's advice, no matter how brilliant their track record is. Everybody makes mistakes and, as a general rule, it is better to trust facts than opinions. Listen to wise individuals, but always check things for yourself.

[5] Protect your assets with reasonable stop-loss orders: Professional investors also make wrong decisions, but they possess enough flexibility to admit their faults. If they purchase shares of one company and the price goes down, they usually prefer to sell them at a small loss rather than wait to see if their price climbs back to the previous level.

A stop-loss order is an instruction to liquidate your investment when its price reaches a certain level. Some investors are willing to take a loss of 10% before admitting that they have made a mistake. Know your limits and establish a clear strategy to protect yourself from catastrophic losses.

[6] Save regularly, monthly if possible, in order to ensure that you will also invest during periods of pessimism. Psychologically, it is easier to place your money in the stock market when prices are rising than when the world seems to be falling apart. Nevertheless, periods of economic misfortune tend to be the best to purchase assets at a low price.

This last principle is the most difficult to apply, since it requires enormous self-discipline. If we overreact to painful past experiences, we will overlook great investment opportunities. When the stock markets of the world go through a difficult period, the low prices can offer excellent possibilities for the future. If you adopt the habit of investing regularly, you will be able to make profitable decisions when few are willing to take any risk.

The essential principles of risk reduction will not provide you absolute protection, but they can help you keep your losses to a minimum. Whatever your strategy, check facts for yourself and never trust anybody blindly.

Times of economic adversity are often the best to rebuild an investment portfolio. As Lao-Tzu observed twenty-six centuries ago: "Truth is often paradoxical. Don't make the mistake of believing that you know what you don't know." Making risk reduction a part of your financial plan can help preserve your peace of mind as much as your savings.

God, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity: Secret Wisdom of World Spiritual Teachers Exposed

Only the TRUTH, and nothing but the TRUTH shall set you free

For thousands of years, all the world's greatest spiritual teachers: Buddha, Mahavira, Lao Tzu, Bodhidarma, Socrates, Plato, Jesus Christ, Muhammad, Osho Rajneesh (and others) have been preaching the same thing to humanity.

We can summarize all of their teachings in just 2 words "Know Yourself".

What do they mean by that?

Why is "Knowing Yourself" the Foundation of WISDOM?

How do you know yourself?

Who are You? And who is this "Yourself"?

You're are "God" or "Consciousness" or "Infinity".

But at the moment, you don't know it, because you're living in a body with unawareness and allowing your mind to run your life.

So for now, you've not realized you're god (that is become "Enlightened") because you're controlled by your mind. So "You" = Mind

"Yourself" means the unknown parts or dimensions of your being; that is both the inner and outer dimensions of your being.

There are two kinds of knowing.

The first is: knowing from the outside; objective studying from outside. This is science.

The second kind of knowing is from the inside.

This is "TMT Power Secrets"! (Transcendental Mental Technology)

TMT is the science that enables a person to master both the knowing from outside and the knowing from the inside to become aware of all the dimensions of his/her being, and so become 100% conscious, enlightened and an immortal.

The inside (psyche) is the foundation of outside (the physical body and the material world).

Compiling facts about things (research) and memorizing them is not "knowing from inside".

It is just accumulation of facts about things outside you (= knowing from outside = knowledge).

So " knowledge" is not the same as " knowing".

Knowledge (what you do at school) is just the accumulation of facts about things outside you.

"Knowing", means to have an experience of the facts subjectively too.

It is easy to know things from outside objectively.

That is why many people remain on the outside.

The world is filled with hundreds of millions of knowledgeable people, intellectuals, experts, scholars and scientists, but all of them are just knowledgeable. They are not "knowers", (= don't have "wisdom", i.e. inner knowing)

To know things from inside, subjectively is not easy, and requires courage.

For example it is easy to study fire and write tomes of scholarly treatises about the philosophy of fire: how to create fire; different types and colors of fire; how to use fire; and to put fire out and so on. (This is knowing fire from the outside)

But is not easy for one to put his finger in the fire to be burned so as to have a direct experience of what is fire! (This is knowing fire from the inside, through a direct experience)

That is why there are very few "knowers" in the world, men and women of wisdom!

Many people are intelligent, scholarly and knowledgeable BUT very few are "knowers"!

You can't understand how the outside works and what makes it so, until you know it from the inside.

That is why if you keep studying things from the outside material world, you'll keep getting more and more puzzles. Never a conclusive answer!

You'll never reach any answers. This is the problem which Science has today.

It is always seeking for answers but always ending up in riddles, enigmas and mysteries, with no answers.

The solution is not on the outside. The solution is in the "inside".

Scientists must begin inner investigations of reality, so that they will begin to understand the outside reality.

They must first get to know "The Knower", (themselves) and then it will become possible for them to find answers through science.

If you don't know "yourself", how can you know others?

How can you know the outside world? ‘Who" will be doing the knowing?

You've to know "the knower" (= You) first.

This is the beginning of "Wisdom", or what we've called "TMT Power Secrets".

After you've known yourself, ("who" you really are), then it becomes possible to know everything else!

That was what Jesus Christ in Christian Bible meant when he said "SEEK YOU THE "KINGDOM OF GOD" FIRST (THE INNER WORLD, CONSCIOUSNESS, "KNOW YOURSELF", INFINITY") AND EVERYTHING WILL BE ADDED TO YOU"

The "kingdom of God" is a symbol for INFINITY or CONSCIOUSNESS.

Symbolism is a common tool for expressing "Wisdom", (meaning: using material objects to represent inner abstract personal subjective experiences)

But a calamity has happened for thousands of years because billions of human beings don't know the meaning of these symbols and codes and have taken them literally.

For example, when they read in their scriptures about "going to heaven" (= "kingdom of God"), they take it literally, by thinking that "heaven" is in the sky and that after they die, they will go there if they performed good deeds in their lives.

They don't know that "heaven" is a symbol representing the human brain.

And "going to heaven" is a symbolic way of "opening the right hemisphere of the brain" so that your consciousness will expand! (alchemy, hermetic science and Gnosticism taught by Thoth, the ancient Egyptian God of Wisdom)

In the average human being, only a tiny percentage of the left hemisphere of the brain (rational mind) is functioning and conscious. The right hemisphere is unconscious and you're unaware of it.

When you go to sleep, sometimes, you dive into this right hemisphere part of brain. Its where all the dreams occur.

The secret science on how to awaken this right hemisphere of the brain and unite it with the left hemisphere of the brain, so that you'll become 100% conscious, enlightened and beyond human (= an immortal) is the hidden teaching of all the world spiritual teachers and it is the TRUE spirituality and what "TMT Power Secrets" is all about.

Jesus Christ also made it clear in the Bible that he taught using symbols, and in parables to conceal this secret hidden teaching from the public, the profane; those who are not yet ready to go beyond their humanity.

So, why have all the priests and the churches and billions of human beings been interpreting the teachings of Jesus literally?

Why have the church, mosques, temples, priests, rabbis and Imams brainwashed the people to believe that the "Kingdom of God" or heaven is in the sky and that they will go there after they die as long as they keep going to the churches, temples and mosques and donating their hard earned money and assets?

Why have they been deceiving their congregations to give up their wealth, possession and happiness on Earth and let the priests and church possess them, so that after they die, they will go to heaven, and live in the Kingdom of God for eternity where they will be rewarded with drinking milk and honey and the men will have a harem of beautiful 18 yr old virgin girls?

Is this not a scam? Is this not an outright deception? Is this not a damnable Fraud?

Even the false fundamentalist Islamic priests are now brainwashing their youths to commit suicidal bombing in the name of their God, Allah and become martyrs with the promise that after they die, they will go to heaven where Allah will reward them with 3 wives, milk and honey.

Even in the same Bible Jesus warned against these false priests (wolves in sheep's clothing) and church. He called them "brood of vipers!" and "White sepulcher"!

He admonished people Not to listen to them and never to believe that the "Kingdom of God" is in sky.

He said, "If the Kingdom is in the sky, then it is futile for man, because the birds of sky will reach there first!"

Why is this Not clear enough to a billion Christians?

One must wonder if the 1 billion humans or so who believe they are Christians ever read their Bible at all?

Why is it that people don't listen to the true teachings of Enlightened beings, but prefer to wallow in ignorance and mumbo jumbo teachings and false interpretations of false priests which are designed to exploit, manipulate and enslave them?

Why do people chose to keep going to the church every Sunday, and also the synagogue, temples and mosques where the priests and organized religions keep brainwashing and hypnotizing them by filling their skulls with sophism, mumbo jumbo garbage and irrationalities of different stripes which they call religion.

And who is "the knower"?

The" knower" is you.

You're made up of Consciousness, which is what we called "INFINITY".

You have a mind (and EGO is the center), and a body, which are your tools for accessing different forms of reality.

The mind and the body have many levels and many dimensions.

So, you the "CONSCIOUSNESS", "INFINITY", has a mind and a body which have many levels and dimensions.

The average human being is only aware of two dimensions.

The human dimension (physical world) and the dream dimension (spiritual world).

You're not aware that the "Living Mankind", "Living Earth", "The Living Sun", "The Living Universe" and "The Living Cosmos" are also your bodies!!! (Your larger bodies)

And their minds are also your higher minds: The Super-conscious minds.

Why are you not aware of this? Because your Consciousness is limited by your human mind!

Your human thoughts, mind and body are blocking your awareness of these other higher parts and dimensions of you.

To become aware of the higher dimensions of your being, (your higher self, other parts, beyond your humanity) you must go beyond your human mind and body.

This is what all the greatest spiritual teachers of the world: Socrates, Paracelsus, Buddha, Nagarjuna, Bodhidarma, Lao Tzu, Jesus, Muhammad, Osho Rajneesh symbolically referred to as "Kingdom of God", "Nirvana", "Paradise", "The Way", "The Lotus Paradise" and others.

The science and technology of going beyond your human body and mind is what is called "Enlightenment."

When you go beyond your human body and mind, you'll go beyond space and time, beyond past and future, and you'll become INFINITY, an IMMORTAL.

When you do that, you go beyond cause and effect, the cycle of birth and death, karma, yin and yang of nature.

You become "twice born again", and the "Son or daughter of God".

God is a symbol that represents Consciousness or INFINITY.

This word, "God" has become over used, polluted and corrupted, misused and misunderstood, so we'll must stop using it and begin to use a new and more scientific term, INFINITY.

So when you're "twice born again", you become the son or daughter of God, INFINITY, an Immortal.

This is what "TMT: Transcendental Mental Technology" is about.

May these insights into God, world religions, true spirituality, hidden wisdom, the SECRET teachings of Thoth the God of Wisdom, Socrates, Paracelsus, Buddha, Mahavira, Nagarjuna, Bodhidarma, Lao Tzu, Kabir, Jesus Christ, Mohammed, and Osho Rajneesh inspire and awaken you to embark on the journey to "Enlightenment", your only true goal on earth.
