Luang Prabang is truly a picturesque city (or town, as some may call it) worthy of its UNESCO World Heritage status. The city is well known for its glittering and graceful temples and monasteries as well as old colonial structures and tree-lined boulevards. There is also so much more to see around the town's vicinity, which Exotissimo is more than happy to take you to see and experience.

If you love trekking, elephants and witnessing a lifestyle and culture unchanged for generations, then check out Exotissimo'sTrek and Hilltribe Discovery day trip program. First stop, Elephant Village. Learn about these gentle giants as you interact with the mahouts and ride Laos' most revered animal. This is as close to seeing and experiencing these animals in the wild as you can get from actually venturing out into the wild.

You'd better have those hiking shoes on because you will now use them! After your elephant experience and a boat ride across the Nam Khan River, your trek will officially start. Walk through the Lao countryside as you make your way to Kamu villages. Kamus are originally Lao people, so these very villages may have been here for hundreds upon hundreds of years.

The next leg of your trek takes you to a Hmong village. These guys are expert weavers, which you can tell just by looking at their elaborate and distinguishable clothes. Feel free to ask about their skills and history as you sit down for lunch at one of their houses. Afterwards, check out the village a little bit more where more of the Hmong's traditional lifestyle and culture are revealed to you.

Your enlightenment of Laos' ethnic groups does not end there. On your way back to your hotel, make a stop at the Traditional Art and Ethnology Center. This museum is dedicated to the ethnic cultures in Laos, being the country's first exhibition dedicated to the collection, preservation, and interpretation of its traditional arts and lifestyles.

Does this one day adventure tour sound enticing to you? If it does, why not add it to one of our Laos tour? These programs have been carefully built so you can fully experience the highlights of this spectacular country as well as the lesser known destinations often passed on by the main tourist trails.
