I will be in Southern Laos at the end of November. Has anyone been at this time and if so what was the weather like?
It should be great by then. Warm with sunny skies. The rainy season is over and the heat is still months away.
I love Beer Lao from Laos. It's a cheap one but so crisp and refreshing. I love to have it with any Asian food. I also love Coopers from Australia - great with Turkish pide. Tonight I'm having a Peroni from Italy with an eggplant casserole dinner - not bad at all.

Pedavena - grilled sausage and grilled polenta with Asiago cheese on it

I agree with Olan Black, Vietnamese food can be found everywhere unless the ingredients are scarce. Now, some common products that export out of Vietnam are: Fish sauce(nuoc mam), Anchrovy dip(mam nem). Also, Vietnam and Laos are two very different countries. They have cultural differences and cuisine is diverse.
This is a really important question and I need answers ASAP!!! So what were some good things (if any) that resulted from the colonization of Laos? Many thanks to every answer!!!
Well, I think it brought cultural diffusion
to the laotians. :)
I have a one-year non-immigrant visa for Thailand. I'm heading to Laos this weekend because I have to leave the country every 90 days. I want to get my 3-month stamp.
If I'm out of the country during the weekend, can I re-enter Thailand on Monday or do I have to wait until Tuesday?
You have to leave the country and re-enter the country. There is no law that says you have to stay outside the country for a certain period of time.
You can go across the border and come right back into Thailand and you will re-enter Thailand. But Vientiane may be worth seeing for a weekend or so. If you get bored just come right back to Thailand.
