I need to travel to Southeast Asia cheaply (Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, etc) from UK in Aug-Oct. Cheapest way?
I don't mind which airport I get into, since I plan to visit many countries in the area anyway, but doing it on a shoestring is important. Leaving early August and returning early October is the plan, and the lowest fare I've found seems to be about £550. Does anyone know a cheaper way/airline?
I believe you are in UK. AirAsia offers direct flight from London to Kuala Lumpur. Air Asia is the only no frill airline servicing this route. From Kuala Lumpur there are many options to get to Thailand. You may either go by air, train or bus. Likewise from Thailand, you may enter Laos either by air or by land. Go to Air Asia website ( http://www.airasia.com ). You not only can fly from London to Kuala Lumpur but also from Kuala Lumpur to Thailand, Vietnam or Laos with Air Asia. Sometimes the cost of flying is even cheaper than land travel. Look out for Air Asia promotion and book several months ahead, sometimes the airline even offer ZERO fare flight. One only has to pay the airport tax. Plan carefully before placing your booking with Air Asia because there will be NO REFUND should you not able to fly on a particular date.
