River cruising in asia?

Hello!
I need help choosing a river cruise company and itinerary!
Can you recommend? We want to go to China, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos. Is there and itinerary that goes to these countries. If not can you recommend a company that does both so maybe we can do a back to back? Also are these lines friendly to teens. They really want to go to asia so i think they will be so immersed in the tours and culture that boredom wont be a problem. Are all teh line all inclusive? we would like an all inclusive line but its not a must1
Thanks in advance

also are te dress codes on the ships strict we like casual or no dress codes do any lines offer these?

I think Princess cruises offer a pretty good network for Asia Cruises, their itinerary ranges from departing in Vancouver and arriving in Beijing to starting in Beijing and ending in Singapore.
Generally, most cruise lines are pretty friendly to all age groups.
Anyways, I think contacting your trusted travel agent may also be a good idea.
In the source, I will put in the official link to Princess Cruises.
Have fun!

Should I visit Angkor Wat while I am in Southeast Asia?

I am going with my Mom to Thailand and Laos in August in a tour group. We are spending are maximum budget for this years trip but there is an extension pre trip to visit Angkor Wat in Cambodia. But the only thing is that it is $1,000 extra, and we cant really afford more then we already are going to be spending. I hear a lot of wonderful things about Angkor Wat and how it is so beautiful and etc.

Do you think it is worth it to spend the extra money and visit Angkor Wat?

Some pictures from Cambodia and Angkor Wat may help you :

and the related picture galleries in Dutch (language does not matter for pictures)

or in French
http://www.willgoto.com/2/144025/liens.aspx

See also the travel guide to Cambodia:
http://www.willgoto.com/1/024319/liens.aspx

Are you interested by such a cultural trip ?
Does the tour extension offer enough time and support to really enjoy the tour to Cambodia?
May you have another opportunity to visit Cambodia later on?
Is it possible to replace the Laos tour with a Cambodia tour?

Above questions are probably the kind of factors you have to consider.

By the way, you find a Laos travel guide here:

Visa needed for Australian traveller in Asia?

For Australian citizens who are thinking about going to Asia, which country require visa? Stay at each country will not exceed 2 weeks ( just a quick tour). Also, which country allow visa to be brought at their airports like going to Turkey for Australians . That way time will be saved and visas could be pre-arranged

Thank You

Countries are
CHINA
JAPAN
S KOREA
VIETNAM
CAMBODIA
LAOS
THAILAND
PHILIPPINES
BRUNEI
INDONESIA
MALAYASIA
SINGAPORE
NEPAL
MONGOLIA
INDIA
BHUTAN

China, Vietnam, India... all require Visas in Advance. There might be one or two others in there like Brunei and Mongolia,,, Maybe Bhutan but the rest are VOA Visas at the Border. This is all easy stuff and most Visas can be secured on line these days like this site for Vietnam.
https://www.visa-vietnam.org/
China's visa policy changes all the time and sometimes they want to have a list of every destination and what hotel you are going to be staying at etc.

India wants you to show proof of solvency so take along a bank statement or two, or a huge chunk of cash to solve the problem. They just want to make sure you have enough money to leave so they don't have to support or deport you A**
have fun.

What must all be figured in planning a trip from Omaha Nebraska to Los Angeles, California?

Just getting a head start on planning a trip from Omaha, Nebraska to Laos Angeles, California. I NEED to talk to California people. I know nobody there! The trip will be for two weeks and it'll be my girlfriend and me, both adults, both with money, but we need prices for plane tickets, lodging, we're not tourists, we just want to scope out a city in California for a possible move. Anything worthwhile that I should know, please answer, comment, give advice. Thanks so much.

You can find prices for airline tickets and lodgings by doing web searches. I've traveled to many places and was always able to find hotel and airline information, even making my reservations online.

Try http://www.expedia.com/

also, the website of the airline(s) that go to Los Angeles from the city you'll be flying from. I do this because they are reliable and sometimes have the best deals.

And the websites for some of the chain motels like Best Western, Holiday Inn, Super 8, and Motel 6.

Laos and Cambodia travel spots ?

are these 2 countries worth travel ? i hear Laos is like an upcoming hong kong. what are the things to do in these area's ? or what are best asian travel spots? im definitely going to japan first and most likely singapore, but looking for another spot. i've already been to thailand; im into great food, beaches, eco tourism, local shows, and safe travel...

WHAT? How can one compare Laos with Hong Kong? Ain't even a working ATM Machine in the whole of Laos!
Laos is a great country to travel, its friendly, laid back people speaks a sort of Thai dialect, the nature is unspoiled ( as it is unspoiled in Cambodia, too) the pace is slow, and the landscape is beautiful.
If you are into spirituality , well, you have dozens of temples to visit ( or stay in) in Laos, meditation courses to attend to and, of course, the magnificence of the biggest religious complex ever built in the planet, Angkor Wat ( Cambodia)
Fancy some nice beaches? Or tropical islands? Well, coastal Cambodia has more than 20 deserted or semi-deserted islands and beautiful beaches, as well as a dozen of national parks and reservoirs.
Both the countries are safe to travel and much cheaper than Thailand.

what are the historical and tourist places in Laos?

hi, a Lonely planet guide to Laos would be a good investment if oyu are going.

There is the "Gibbon Experience" close to "Luang Nam Tha" you can then boat it down the Mekong River to "Luang Phrabang" if you take a visa on arrival of 15days, visiting the above 3 places should take up most of your time.

enjoy

Will this SE Asia itinerary still work?

I was originally going to do 2 months in a clockwise tour. Thailand - Laos - Vietnam (north to south) - Cambodia - Bangkok.

Now I have some friend who are visiting Vietnam starting in Saigon and finishing in Hanoi. Could I do it this way instead.

Thailand - Laos (North to South then cross over to Cambodia) - Cambodia - Vietnam (South to North). then fly to bangkok. I know its a zig zag but is it worth me doing this just to hang out with my friends

I just returned from a trip to Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

This is the route I took with my wife: Flew into Bangkok, Two days there, then we drove in a mini van to the border with Cambodia. Walked across the border and got into a second mini van and went to Siem Reap. Spent Four days in Siem Reap visiting Angkor Wat then we went by bus to Phonem Penn for two days then by Boat down the Mekong River into Vietnam. Bus to Saigon. Few days there then flew to Da nang then Hoi An Bus to Hui then overnight train to Hanoi.

You can do it any way you want.

Do Thai like foreign tourists or do they despise them?

I understand from a few travellers, farang married to Thais and also from my own experiences that Thai only tolerate foreigners because of the tourist dollar they bring.

The Thais have a number of nasty phrases in their own language about foreigners.

When I am in Thailand I really dont feel welcome as I do in China, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia

In my experience it is a lot more difficult to get along with other nationalities. Thai people will leave you be and are very tolerant.

I am sure there is a bad apple in every basket.

You will always be a farang -foreigner- in Thailand. You always will be called farang where ever you go and if this bothers you, Thailand may not be such a Paradise for you. It is not meant to insult you but it's deeply engrained in the way Thai people refer to white people.

Thai people must be the most sociable nation on the planet. They are extremely friendly in particular in areas with few tourists. A smile from another person is always replied to with a smile. If they seem unsure about you it is probably because they are shy....a smile usually takes care of it and will be replied with a smile.
