Are the any thai embassies where uk residents cannot make a non-immigration visa?

I am a british citizen, someone told me that you cannot renew/make a non-immigration visa for Thailand at the embassies/consulates in the bordering countries (malaysia, cambodia, laos). I was told that you must go back to your country of residence and apply there, is this true? i dont think it is as ive met people from america who have done it in malaysia and laos, i dont see why it should be any different for a british citizen.

anyone have any recent first hand experience that can clear this up?

thanks

It's not a question of nationality, it's hard to obtain O non immigrant visa (embassies internal dispositions) best chances in PP, avoid Penang.

Visas for Vietnam -

Visitors going to Vietnam must show a valid Vietnam visa before being allowed into the country. A visa may be requested from a Vietnamese embassy near you, or may be sourced through a reliable travel agency.

Compared to other Southeast Asian countries, Vietnam is a tougher nut to crack where visas are concerned. The rules and costs vary widely depending on the issuing embassy or consulate.

The Bangkok embassy, for example, can take your payment and process your visa on the very same day charging 1000 Baht (US$50 in its dollar equivalent; no other currency is accepted). The San Francisco consulate takes five days and $65 to do the same thing.

The information presented here may change without prior notice, so double-check with the nearest Vietnamese embassy before applying for your visa.

Visa Exemptions

Most visitors to Vietnam will need a visa to enter the country, with a few exceptions. Citizens from ASEAN countries are permitted to enter without applying for a visa, and other countries have made similar arrangements for their citizens.

  • Citizens of the following countries may stay, visa-free, for no more than 30 days: Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore
  • Citizens of the Philippines may stay, visa-free, for no more than 21 days.
  • Citizens of the following countries may stay, visa-free, for no more than 15 days: Denmark, Finland, Japan, Norway, South Korea, Sweden

If you are not a citizen of any of these countries, you must apply for a visa at a nearby Vietnamese embassy.

In the United States, you may apply at the Vietnamese embassy in Washington, DC if you're on the East Coast, or at the Vietnamese consulate in San Francisco if you're on the West Coast.

Vietnam Tourist Visas

Tourist visas are available for a maximum 30-day stay, with the option to extend your visa for another 30 days upon your arrival in Vietnam.

To get a Vietnam tourist visa from your nearest Vietnam embassy or consulate, download the visa form from the local embassy's website and fill it up.

At the Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate in the U.S., you'll be required to present:

  • Your original passport - valid for six months more after the planned trip, and with vacant pages for the full-page visa stamp
  • One completed visa application form
  • One 2"x2" passport-sized photo attached firmly to the space provided on the application form
  • A money order or Cashier's check payable to the processing mission. The Embassy asks that you call them to ask for the current fees, although the rates are common knowledge among travelers .

More details are available on their website: http://www.vietnamvisasupport.com ,

Vietnam Business visas

Business visas are available for business visitors (if you're investing in a business in Vietnam, or if you're arriving for work). Vietnam business visas are valid for six months and allow multiple entries.

The requirements for a Vietnam business visa are identical to those for the tourist visa, with the addition of a Business Visa Approval Form from your sponsor in Vietnam. You cannot get this form from the Embassy or the Consulate - your sponsor must get it from officials in Vietnam.

Other Vietnam Visas

Diplomatic and official visas are issued for visitors with government and diplomatic business. Holders of diplomatic and service passports will be granted these visas, which are free of charge.

The requirements for these visas are similar to those for the business visa, with the addition of a note verbale from the concerned agency, foreign mission, or international organization.

What must all be figured in planning a trip from Omaha Nebraska to Los Angeles, California?

Just getting a head start on planning a trip from Omaha, Nebraska to Laos Angeles, California. I NEED to talk to California people. I know nobody there! The trip will be for two weeks and it'll be my girlfriend and me, both adults, both with money, but we need prices for plane tickets, lodging, we're not tourists, we just want to scope out a city in California for a possible move. Anything worthwhile that I should know, please answer, comment, give advice. Thanks so much.

You can find prices for airline tickets and lodgings by doing web searches. I've traveled to many places and was always able to find hotel and airline information, even making my reservations online.

Try http://www.expedia.com/

also, the website of the airline(s) that go to Los Angeles from the city you'll be flying from. I do this because they are reliable and sometimes have the best deals.

And the websites for some of the chain motels like Best Western, Holiday Inn, Super 8, and Motel 6.

Last Minute - Only 5 Days Left To Get Vietnam Visa Promotion. Apply Now!

Welcome to Vietnam on the very occasions of Lunar New Year 2010 and romantic Valentine day 14th Febuary 2010. Have a good time in Vietnam on these special days.

Vietnamvisasupport.com offer 02 special promotion types for all clients have application for Vietnam visa online on these occasions of Vietnam Lunar New Year and Valentine day 2010

Promotion Details

Only citizens of certain countries can visit Vietnam without an Entry Visa (valid for visit within 30 days), specifically as follows:

- Not more than 30 days: for citizens of Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Laos.
- Not more than 15 days: for citizens of Japan, South Korea, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland.
- French citizens holding valid diplomatic passports are exempt from visa requirements when visiting Vietnam and are allowed to stay for up 3 months at one time or on several visits within six months since their first immigration dates.
- Citizens of Chile holding valid diplomatic or official passports are exempt from needing entry, exit and transit visas in Vietnam's territory and are allowed to stay for up 60 days on each visit.

Citizens from all other countries are required to get an Entry Visa before departure or a pre-approved Entry Visa (issued on arrival at Vietnams International Airports) supplied before arrival in Vietnam.

The whole Visa-to-Vietnam Application Process should be recommended to you as follows;

It is common that you obtain your Entry Visa by having a valid passport stamped prior to your departure by applying to the Vietnam Embassy and/or Consulate (in case there is a Consulate instead of Embassy) in your country. However, if your particular city does not have a Vietnamese Embassy, and you wish to avoid procedural delays (anywhere from 4 to 10 days) which sometimes happen with visa approvals at embassies outside Vietnam, vietnamvisasupport.com can make this requirement a fairly easy exercise. We provide a specialized form which you may copy and paste into a word document, fill out the required information and return to us by fax or email. We will then arrange to obtain the visa approval code service for you. Yet, you still subsequently have to get the official Vietnamese Stamp of with your passport to the Embassy or Consulate to get the Visa Stamp on your passport on the same day. You are now ready to go to Vietnam!

In case there is no Vietnam embassy or Consulate in your country, or you would like to make Vietnam part of a multi-destination trip, we recommend Visa upon Arrival as your best option.

What is a 'Visa upon Arrival?': this is probably the easiest way to obtain your visa without having to chase down embassies, consulates and the like prior to your trip. It is a valid alternative when applying for a tourist visa. The Entry Visa will be stamped on your passport as you pass through our Immigration Checkpoint. Though valid for thirty days, it can be extended once you enter Viet Nam. With this type of visa, you only can enter the country by air.

How to get a Visa upon Arrival: The service also facilitates customers at most in this case. We obtain what is called an Approval Letter for you from the Viet Nam Immigration Department. Then we will send you a copy by fax or email. Copies of the same document will be forwarded on your behalf to Vietnam Immigration Checkpoints at International Airports only. Thus when you arrive in Viet Nam, the Immigration officers will have those documents on hand and will be able to issue your Entry Visa expediently.

what are the historical and tourist places in Laos?

hi, a Lonely planet guide to Laos would be a good investment if oyu are going.

There is the "Gibbon Experience" close to "Luang Nam Tha" you can then boat it down the Mekong River to "Luang Phrabang" if you take a visa on arrival of 15days, visiting the above 3 places should take up most of your time.

enjoy

About back to back torist visa from the Thai embassy in Lao?

When my current "O" type visa expires I believe I can do a "Visa run" to Vientiane every 15 days back to back visa exempt.
What I want to know s can I do this with a 60 day tourist visa, I mean Back to back as with the 15 day visa exempt stamp,.
I live near Nong Kai so border crossing no hassle for me.
I have not been able to find any answers ar Thai Visa or the Embassy in Laos, unless I go there and ask at the desk
Dont want any other info thanks Eg visa extention. info
I mean when my currant visa has EXPIRED ,
Negeshia. Please look up the latest rule regarding visa exemtion, that leaving Thailand for 90 days no longer apply's. I can leave Thailand AT THE END of my currant visa and re enter every 15 days as long as I like however that would not only mean $35 every 15 days for a Lao visa but also my passport would soon be full. Im just looking for a better option than returning to Ausralia for a new 12 month non "O" visa

Don't understand. You have a "o" visa but what you want to do is go on a visa run and get a tourist Visa at the Thai Embassy (Gives you 60 days) and go again in 60 days and get another 60 day tourist visa?

If your on a tourist Visa you can get one 60 day and two 15 day for a total of 90, then you gotta go out of Thailand for 90 days. You don't want to extend the "O" visa.

Laos Tourist

laos tourist_3="laos tourist"
Do Thai like foreign tourists or do they despise them?

I understand from a few travellers, farang married to Thais and also from my own experiences that Thai only tolerate foreigners because of the tourist dollar they bring.

The Thais have a number of nasty phrases in their own language about foreigners.

When I am in Thailand I really dont feel welcome as I do in China, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia

In my experience it is a lot more difficult to get along with other nationalities. Thai people will leave you be and are very tolerant.

I am sure there is a bad apple in every basket.

You will always be a farang -foreigner- in Thailand. You always will be called farang where ever you go and if this bothers you, Thailand may not be such a Paradise for you. It is not meant to insult you but it's deeply engrained in the way Thai people refer to white people.

Thai people must be the most sociable nation on the planet. They are extremely friendly in particular in areas with few tourists. A smile from another person is always replied to with a smile. If they seem unsure about you it is probably because they are shy....a smile usually takes care of it and will be replied with a smile.
