Laos Airfares

laos airfares="laos airfares"
What is the cheapest way to get to south east asia?

I'm in phoenix arizona trying to get to Vientiane, Laos. It seems like there are a lot of different routes to take to get to the final destination, and I just want to get some advice from people with some travel experience.

What complicates the situation is that I can probably get discounted airfare as far as Hawaii/Europe, then maybe leapfrog to Asia for a discount.

It seems very expensive to fly into laos, and maybe it would be better for me to fly into a sorrounding airport and commute to Laos in a different way.

Anyone have advice on the cheapest airports, carriers, best websites to look at when booking a flight?
Thanks for the advice!

The absolute cheapest way is going to be taking public buses, though doing so in SEA is kinda crazy. Schedules are all over the place and of course, the info is not always in English. If you can get your hostel/hotel to book for you that's a good option.

There's TONS of cheap airlines though. Tiger, AirAsia and JetStar come to mind. I flew from Singapore to Udon Thani in Thailand super cheaply. From there just take a taxi to the border and walk across. Easy. :)
