Since the house holds a huge advantage over every gambler, they often end up on top. Sometimes a single gambler can lose hundreds of thousands of dollars in a single night. Therefore, each hotel, which also contains a casino, wants these whales to stay at their facility. Because of this, these hotels offer these big spenders huge discounts on suites because the count on them to spend ten times the value of the suites at their amenities. Thus, hotels want to attract both the discount spenders and the big spenders thereby creating huge variances in Las Vegas hotel prices.

On top of these complications is the added discomfort of the local climate. Las Vegas is located in the middle of one of the hottest deserts in the United States. Thus, hotels offer huge discounts during the hotter summer months in order to draw tourists to the uncomfortable climate.

There are several ways to keep your credit while going into bankruptcy. Let's use a typical example of a W2 employee with a total loss of revenues or lower revenue due to loss of employment. This example is consistent with most of my readers and therefore will be the first in a series of reviews. The process of keeping your credit cards and credit becomes more difficult when you have a mortgage. This will only work for those who have regained at least some of their revenue through new employment or a reduction of their mortgage that can be paid on time. It is not the reduction of the mortgage that makes the difference. Paying your bills on time is what makes the difference.

W2 Employee Bankrupt Plan1

A W2 employee going bankrupt is essentially a person who has lost their job and is unable to pay their bills. This is a strategic plan for W2 employees to relieve some of their credit card burden while maintaining credit. This plan will work best if your income has dropped or regained employment with less revenue. This plan is a strategic move to maintain credit. This plan will not work unless you already have credit now and an income to cover mortgage payments on time. Make a plan to pay at least three credit cards. Plan on paying at least 3 revolving charge cards and I will show you haw to save your home.

Plan on Paying at Least 3 Revolving Charge Cards

Make a plan for maintaining your credit while the bankruptcy goes through. Keep it in your mind to pay at least three revolving charge cards. That is the key, your ability to pay at least three revolving credit cards on time. It is incorrect to believe that you need to charge off everything in the bankruptcy. You can relieve your self from the larger debts while maintaining some of the smaller ones to keep your credit. The bankruptcy will certainly relieve you of charge-offs on your credit report. Be sure to keep the credit cards that can be paid on time and get rid of the others in the bankruptcy.

Loss-Mitigation vs MAPS

If you can not reduce your mortgage payment through the normal Loss-Mitigation procedure, use MAPS to sell your house and buy another house with a smaller mortgage payment. MAPS, means Mortgage Assignment Profits System. The MAPS system is used to sell un-sellable homes by assigning the mortgage to another buyer. The MAPS process is beyond the scope of this article. Used correctly, the MAPS strategy can completely eliminate your need to go bankrupt, and even make you a profit. Please do your due diligence.

Keep Your Credit and Invest in Another Home

I am used this technique as a loan officer. I closed a mortgage loan for a client the day after he went bankrupt. We used a very strategic maneuver to keep his credit score of 650. We set up to close on another investment home the day right after he went bankrupt. Fewer underwriters these days will go along with this sort of thing. This strategy will not work if you can not pay your existing mortgage on time, or transfer liability over to another buyer. I recommend using the MAPS strategy for those who have completely lost their income. You can assign your existing mortgage payments to another buyer. You can then keep a hefty deposit and apply it to the purchase of a new house. You do not have to pay taxes on that deposit money because you are applying it to a primary residential property. This will allow you to keep your new home, and go bankrupt on the old house, if necessary.

Plan Your Bankruptcy

You should plan on going bankrupt and have an exit strategy that keeps you ahead of the game. There is a due on sale clause within your lenders contract that would normally prevent you from assigning your mortgage to another buyer. So what, would you rather go bankrupt or start taking control of your own future. Planning for bankruptcy these days can be as good as making a wise investment. Using this strategy in conjunction with MAPS can make you a more financially secure person. You can use this strategy to plan for bankruptcy and make a profit all at he same time.

I plan to travel in June from Kunming to northern Laos and thence down the Mekong River to Luang Prabang. Does anyone have any suggestions & advice.

Some friends of mine took a similar trip last year (to Thailand) and while they enjoyed it, they said they had to spend an extra two days in Kunming while the boat waited for more people to join. They were traveling in February . . . perhaps this won't be an issue in June.

Riverside Paradise - Xong river in Vangvieng, Laos

A small and beautiful town surrounded by mountains and rivers, Vangvieng is a place of delight and wonder for visitors from around the world.

The city is about 150 km north of Vientiane, situated between the capital city and the World Heritage town of Luang Prabang. The main attractions are the clean and clear water of the Nam Xong river, karst outcroppings, caves and mountain scenery. The town has more than 30 natural caves, and most places of interest are accessible to visitors all year round.

Laos is steeped in Buddhist traditions, has a colourful culture and is famed for the year-round tropical weather that makes it a lush paradise. The people who live here hold many traditional festivals so that local customs live on.

In the meantime the tourists from around the world who visit Vangvieng congregate around the river, with venues in the town becoming meeting points where people make friends as they enjoy fun and games.

Recently, tourism operators have built facilities to serve the visitor’s need for excitement as fully as possible along the river. These include zip-lines, rope swings, slides, and mud pits for games of rattan ball and volleyball.

For a three-kilometre stretch on the river before the launch point of inner tubes and kayaks, people can be seen happily drinking and dancing, enjoying the music, riverside merriment and sport.

Impromptu games involve an unlimited number of players, both male and female. Whether a player is good or not is of no importance. People are perfectly content to engage in friendly competition, while relishing the freedom and comfort of swim-wear and mud. Of course there are no rules either; the objective is to hit the ball over the net and enjoy the refreshing surroundings and the company of friends new and old.

This sort of unabashed volleyball revelry played out in the mud may not be an unusual site in some countries, but in Laos it is certainly a rarity.

Vangvieng is the first and only place to feature mud pit volleyball in Laos! In fact, the only other instance of mud-based excitement in the country is seen during the rocket festival. There, if a rocket explodes on the launching pad instead of taking to the sky, the rocket engineer and his team will be thrown into a mud pit by the other rocketeers. But this only happens once a year, while Vangvieng players can serve, volley and wallow in the pit every day.

Making the “mud court” is not complicated and involves simply taking mud from farms in the area and pouring it into the pit. The only extra effort goes into making sure the mud doesn’t contain any large rocks or other hard objects, which might injure the players. Smartly, the court is equipped with nylon nets to keep the ball from going too far out of play.

When players grow tired and mud-caked from all the volleying, they will most likely be seen heartily throwing one another into the river. Viola! It’s a fast, easy and fun method of cleaning up after the game.

Still, revellers shouldn’t forget that safety is extremely important in this type of setting. To prevent tourists from drowning after they have jumped or swung into the river, some locals are specially designated to be on the lookout for those in need of a helping hand. They throw out small inner tubes tied to a rope and pull them back to land. This can be quite useful, especially for those who are not the strongest of swimmers.

Moreover, merrymakers cannot disregard the environmental integrity of the area.

To protect the river, district authorities have created regulations banning tourist operators from allowing visitors to bring any glass bottles to the riverside, nor in kayaks or inner tubes.

Though several kinds of beverages are available at bars along the river, especially at places where overhead jumps are set up, tourists are not allowed to take any bottles away with them. Servers pour drinks into small plastic buckets and require them to stay put.

Splashing and sporting around are good for some, but what makes Vangvieng an interesting destination is its dynamism. There seems to be something for everyone here. Visitors who don’t want to play in the mud or jump into the river can simply enjoy taking photographs and taking pleasure in the beauty of their surroundings. There are caves to explore, organic farms to visit, and local culture and traditions to get lost in.

Lao visitors, especially from Vientiane, like to shop at the market for fresh organic vegetables and fruits in the early morning. Here, one can see the real life of Vangvieng residents, who come from different villages and ethnic groups and sell and buy goods in the market. Not only are many of the goods for sale here interesting and unusual, they are also cheaper than in Vientiane markets.

To tempt tourists to linger longer in Vangvieng, investors have developed numerous amenities for visitors to enjoy. In the town centre, hundreds of restaurants pepper the roads, many of them decorated with coloured lights and bright flowers, while others feature popular TV series that run non-stop.

At the visitor’s fingertips are overseas television channels, Internet cafes, currency exchange units and transaction services that allow connection with the rest of the world. Travel agencies, as well as trekking, tubing and kayaking operations, are not at all difficult to find in the town centre.

Travellers can relax, drink and savour their favourite foods in the many eateries. The town is not lacking in international fare. Some cooks are even willing to prepare made-to-order meals for visitors, to sate their Western-style cravings.

Yet, those seeking a more cultural experience will not be disappointed— Lao cuisine and libations are readily available. Among the most popular beverages for tourists are Beerlao, fruit shakes, organic wine and tea made from mulberry leaves.

Vangvieng has more than 100 guesthouses, hotels, resorts and bungalows to accommodate tourists who visit the town. If you find your way to this dynamic and charming place, remember to go easy on the lao-lao, respect the natural beauty, and leave only your troubles to float down the river.

Robert Frost once said, "I took the road less traveled and it has made all the difference." Map makers are not afraid to take the road less traveled as well. Often, at some point on the on the road of discovery, they realize they’ve failed. But they’ve learned to make one important distinction, just because you fail, doesn’t mean you’re a failure.

Like the Lewis and Clark Expedition, a map maker is someone who journey’s where he/she has never been before. Map makers are not afraid to journey where no one has been before them. They know that to "create their own reality" the path they choose must be their path and no one else’s.

In May of 1804, Lewis and Clark embarked from St. Louis on what was to become the most dangerous expedition in American history. Their mission was to explore and follow the Columbia River to its source, the Pacific Ocean. This mission would result in discovering what became known as the Pacific Passage.

They returned to St. Louis in September of 1806, successfully navigating the rough and dangerous terrain to report that they had in fact found the route to the Pacific. This expedition came with a high cost to the well being and lives of the many men who were a part of the expedition. Some men died as a result of illness, others perished from treacherous descents and climbing accidents.

At times they would travel weeks and hundred of miles in a westerly route, only to be turned back by a 500 foot precipice that could not be navigated. Countless times, provisions, serious injury or lost lives were the price they paid to achieve their destination.

A map maker knows that to fulfill their dream, the path they must embark on is not always the shortest distance between two points. Like each of us in our lives, Lewis and Clark did not have the luxury of someone before them leaving a trail or true compass to reach their destination unscathed. The only way that they were going to achieve their goal was to move forward each and every day in pursuit of their dream, not knowing when or where they were going to make a mistake but knowing that inevitably, they would.

It took great courage and stamina to push on day after day, week after week not knowing if the decision they had made that day or the direction they were pointed in was correct. This is true for each and everyone of us in our lives as well. I remember a quote I once read that said "if you can find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn’t lead anywhere."

It’s this lack of certainty that stops so many of us from pursuing our dream and discovering our passion. As spiritual beings, we are all born explorers, constantly looking to discover what we do not know and yearn to, yet fearful of letting go of what we do know and have. Each of us is here for a sole purpose and it is our responsibility to create and live that purpose.

No one approached Lewis and Clark and dropped the map to the Pacific Passage in their hands; just as no one is going to approach you and hand you your dream or passion. They had to discover it for themselves, as do each and everyone of us. Although the expedition experienced pain and suffering on the path, the joy and honor comes in the journey, not the destination.

The journey calls up in each of us a level of spirit and strength that we never knew we had. We are reborn into a world of great hope, faith and courage and these become our true compass in life. Each of us will get lost, many will fall down but it is the power of belief in oneself and the power of the unknown that beckons to our spirit to push onward, to remain committed to the creation of our passion and the discovery of our purpose.

You will feel your self-esteem soar and your self-image will take on new heights of self-love and confidence that you never dreamt possible. You are a map maker! Lao-tzu said "a journey of a thousand miles, begins with the first step." For the map maker, each step is a creation, each day is a new beginning and each day offers the potential of unlimited possibility.

To awaken the sleeping spirit within you must become "a map maker." A map maker is about the joy of discovery, the creation of positive energy; it’s about an intention of hope and faith so powerful that you will not fear the possibility of failing. Yes, you may fail but to pursue your dream, your passion, one must totally believe in oneself and remember "I may fail but I am not a failure."

There is no fear in change, only the fear that you create in your mind. Remember that fear and doubt, can not coexist with hope and courage. Map makers experience fear but they carry their sense of hope and courage with them in their heart. The passions of the heart, are more powerful than the fears of the mind. With God’s grace, you will find the faith and perseverance you need to continue on your quest.

It may be a simple quest such as improving your self-esteem, increasing your self-confidence or finding the courage to search for a better job. Then again, it may be a major challenge such as overcoming an addiction, discovering well-being in your life by ceasing to be obese or committing to a relationship despite your fear of a previous failure.

My favorite quote of all time is also by Robert Frost, where he says, "there is a time for departure, even when there is no certain place to go." Honor your life by creating your own reality and living your dream. Remember that great achievement requires great risk. Take the road less traveled, your life is worth the journey!

If I'm out of the country during the weekend, can I re-enter Thailand on Monday or do I have to wait until Tuesday?

You have to leave the country and re-enter the country. There is no law that says you have to stay outside the country for a certain period of time.

You can go across the border and come right back into Thailand and you will re-enter Thailand. But Vientiane may be worth seeing for a weekend or so. If you get bored just come right back to Thailand.

Booking a Holiday, Tour or Vacation in Laos

In my capacity as the UK Director of Operations for One World Tours Limited, I am often asked about the destinations I have been to. I try to give a good opinion on those places and offer some helpful advice. Here then, are my top suggestions for sites to take in during your holiday in Laos.


When you visit Laos you will notice immediately how important the culture, heritage and Buddhism are to its inhabitants. Laos is located between Vietnam and Thailand in the south east of Asia. It is a beautiful country with many rivers, rugged mountains, forests, plains and plateaus. Laos has been isolated from outside influences so the tourist gets a unique view of traditional Southeast Asian life. With its fertile lowlands of the Mekong River valley and the rugged Annamite highlands, Laos has got to be one of the highlights in Asia.

Laos has a tropical monsoon climate with the rainy season during the months of May to November and the roads can become washed out & the dry season starting from December to April. The weather is not too hot and there is less rainfall between November and February. The most popular time that tourists actually visit Laos are December to February but the good thing is there are not too many during these times.

For trekking or visiting the mountains, May and July are good, warm, dry months to experience them.

One of the most beautiful places in Laos is Luang Prabang and it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995. It is a magical ancient city that seems to have stood still in time surrounded by its mountains.

In the centre of the city of Laos is Mount Phousi. From this amazing standpoint you will witness stunning views of the hills and temples that surround it.

Khone Phapheng is considered to be the largest waterfall in Southeast Asia and with this in mind makes it an amazing place to experience. You will find this waterfall at the southern end of Si Phan Don home to the rare Irrawaddy dolphins.

The Pak Ou Caves are an absolutely spectacular sight to behold. One of the caves is filled with hundreds of statues of the Buddha which can be seen through a rugged hole in the cliff face.

If you want to see this amazing scene up close then it is possible to climb out onto the dock where the beautifully carved stones will lead you up to the entrance of the cave. There are statues of Buddha’s absolutely everywhere that you look, balancing on stone shelves, lining the stairs and in the nooks and crannies in the cave.

Pilgrims and kings have gone to the caves to worship for at least the last 500 years.

Pha That Luang is a Buddhist temple in Vientiane, Laos which was built in the 16th century. The temple was destroyed by a Thai invasion but has since been restored to its former glory. There are some people that believe that relics of the Buddha are housed in this temple. This temple has become a symbol of Lao nationalism due to the architecture including the Lao people’s culture and identity.

There is a wonderfully unique place known as the Plain Of Jars, located in the remote north east of Laos, where you will find hundreds of huge stone urns. These stone jars cover an area of several square miles and have become a great crowd puller. The urns are one of the most enigmatic ancient sights in Asia. To this day the many jars have kept their secret from the many historians who have tried to date them and discover what they actually signify.

In the province of Champasak you will find an amazing mountain Temple dating back to the 5th century which is known as Wat Phu, is an impressive ruin of Khmer style. There are a number of carved rocks above the temple site, each of them resembling different animals including a cobra, an elephant and a crocodile. Some believe that these rocks may have been used for human sacrifice in times gone by.

What is your opinion/experiences on travelling with Tour packages?

For my 21st I want to travel South East Asia.. Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos etc etc.. However Im going at it alone as I believe Ill get more outta the experience.. A few people have suggested I got with a tour group (Gap Adventures Indochina tour) but I think that I might not get to fully experience the cultures this way...

Has anybody been on a tour like this before? Was it worth the money?

I like to take an adventure to traveled alone. I used to travel alone to the world. It was great.
