Luang Prabang Nightlife

Despite the fact that Luang Prabang is known primarily as a "morning" type of town, with most locals in bed by around 10pm, there are a handful of nightlife venues that continue on into the early hours.  You can always ask one of the staff members at your Luang Prabang hotel for information, but the chances are, no matter what establishment you stay at, there will be some suitable nightlife close by.  Here are a few suggestions.

Lemon Grass: a quaint wine bar that is surrounded by a white picket fence and overlooks the Mekong Delta.  It is owned by two Belgians and not any of the locals and features its own piece of the river bank.  There is also an adjacent shop situated over the road with fine wines and home décor items.

The Hive and Lao Beer Garden: although this is a favourite of the younger crowd, the beer garden is a great place to take in bass and drum or hip-hop tunes at any age.  It is definitely one of the livelier night time venues despite the fact that it doesn't stay open until the wee hours of morning.

Vietnam Bar: if you're looking for a livelier venue that serves up cheaper beers, plays great music, and accommodates the party crowd, then this is the place to visit.

Bowling: one of the few establishments that stays open late.  It gets extremely crowded after 10 pm at night with international travellers who are more interested in drinking than bowling.  If you feel like it, you can party here until 3:00 am.
