Laos Music

laos music="laos music"
Is laogaeton or reggaeton from Laos popular yet? Is it well known especially in Laos? Or will it take time?

I heard recently that there is a new fusion of reggaeton and Lao music called laogaeton that is making history because, come on, you would think of that place as the last place in the world to find something like that (I almost had to laugh when I found out about it) and this has never happened before. This new fusion was created recently by a Lao American called Alex Tapanya also known as Alex San Dinero (he was the first one to call this fusion laogaeton), the first and only Lao reggaeton artist, after being exposed with a lot of Latin music especially reggaeton with which he fell in love with and so wanted to share it with his people of Laos. He wanted to share and bring a different form of urban music since they only knew and where interested in rap, hip hop, and RnB. So if any of you know something about it, do you know if it is becoming popular yet and is it well known? If not, do yo think it will ever become well known and popular or no?

Alex has only been in the music business for a little over a year. It wasn't something he had been dreaming and fantasizing about all his life. The whole Reggaeton thing and music fell in his lap when he invested into Bizzle Boy Productions with a couple of his friends. And since he liked Latin music so much, he decided to give it a shot to see if people would like it. His songs have been on Radio Free Asia, VOA News, Radio Xieng Kaen, Lao French radio, and a few others. Now people are really starting to hear about his work and are paying attention to his movement. He hasn't even completed his first album yet but people are talking about him in the Lao and Latin world as a pioneer. I talk to him time and time again and he's also putting out a Merengue song in Lao, too. Crazy isn't it? I think as time goes on, his work will eventually become the next biggest thing in the Lao urban/pop culture.
