How much will I need for a month long trip travelling through Thailand, Laos and Vietnam?
Can it be done, excluding transport to and from Asia, for $3000 US if I stay in hostels and eat cheap?
I would say easily. I spent three months living in the Philippines and spent twice that. These countries are cheaper than the Philippines.
Learn how to bargain though, because you will be expected to pay more in many places because you are a westerner.
