What clothing would be appropriate for a holiday in Vietnam and Laos in May?
Going to Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand for my honeymoon in May (6th-23rd) and will be doing a mix of nature: halong bay/mekong, city sights : Hoi an, Ho Chi Min City and teples: Angkor Wat.
I would like to be stylish and comfortable, and definitely do not want to offend anyone (by wearing inappropriate clothes in temples, etc) . Any suggestions on appropriate outfits?
Thanks!
May is at the end of the hot season and the beginning of the rainy season in Thailand, Laos, and southern Vietnam.
The weather in Halong Bay (in northern Vietnam) will be like spring in south/central USA, while HCMC will be hot and steamy (high humidity).
I suggest you wear light garments made of cotton. T-shirts or polo shirts and shorts will do most places, especially if you make sure your shorts go down to your knees . Some temple visits may require that you wear socks & shoes and visiting the Grand Temple in Bangkok requires wearing full-length trousers.
